We had a wonderful summer, and now we'll soon be starting a new season. On Sept. 22, it'll be the first day of fall, and you know what that means. It's time to clear out your Netflix watchlist so that you can add a bunch of new content to it.
If you're looking for something to watch that'll have your heart racing and keep you on the edge of your seat, then you must check out these eight best action movies on Netflix that we shared below. Two of the films listed haven't been released yet and will come out later this year. Don't worry. We'll make sure to share their official release dates as well.
The Union (2024)
The Union was released on Netflix in August 2024, and it didn't take long at all for it to rise up the streamer's top 10 movie list. As of Aug. 27, it's currently sitting at the No. 2 spot, and it doesn't look like it'll be removed from the list anytime soon.
It's an action comedy starring Halle Berry and Mark Wahlberg as high school sweethearts Roxanne and Mike, who are reunited after 25 years. Mike is working as a construction worker when he's approached by his high school sweetheart Roxanne, who now works as a spy for a secret organization known as "The Union." After recruiting him on a high-stakes mission, Mike finds his mundane life spiced up.
Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F (2024)
Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F is now streaming on Netflix. Like The Union, it's an action comedy. It serves as the sequel to Beverly Hills Cop III, and sees Eddie Murphy reprise his role as Detroit police detective Axel Foley. After his daughter Jane's life is threatened, Foley returns to Beverly Hills to solve a criminal conspiracy along with help from his old friends John Taggart and Billy Rosewood.
Code 8 (2019)
You can stream Code 8 on Netflix right now. It's a sci-fi action film starring Robbie Amell as a young man with superhuman abilities who turns to illegal means to make ends meet and to save his sick mother, all while being hunted down by a police force. Stephen Amell, Sung Kang, Kari Matchett, Greg Bryk, Aaron Abrams, Kyla Kane, Laysla De Oliviera, and Vlad Alexis are also in the cast.
Code 8: Part II (2024)
Serving as a sequel to Code 8, Code 8: Part II jumps forward five years, and we follow Connor (Robbie Amell) as he reluctantly joins forces again with Garrett (Stephen Amell) to save a teen girl from corrupt officers. Besides the Amell cousins, the cast is made up of Sirena Gulamgaus, Altair Vincent, Alex Mallari Jr., Moe Jeudy-Lamour, Aaron Abrams, Jean Yoon, and others. It's currently available to stream on Netflix.
Lift (2024)
In Lift, we follow a master thief and his expert heist crew as they attempt to pull off a seemingly impossible mission of stealing $500 million in gold from a vault on a passenger plane 40,000 feet in the sky. The cast comprises Kevin Hart, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Vincent D'Onofrio, Úrsula Corberó, Billy Magnussen, Jacob Batalon, Jean Reno, and Sam Worthington. This action-adventure film is already streaming on Netflix.
Trigger Warning (2024)
Trigger Warning was released on Netflix in June 2024. It stars Jessica Alba as a highly skilled Special Forces operative who returns home to uncover the truth behind her father's mysterious death, only to find herself at odds with a violent gang wreaking havoc in her hometown. Joining Alba in the cast are Mark Webber, Tone Bell, Jake Weary, Gabriel Basso, and Anthony Michael Hall.
Uglies (2024)
Netflix release date: Sept. 13, 2024
Set in a seemingly perfect world where appearance is everything, we follow a teen girl named Tally Youngblood who finds out her friend has gone missing while awaiting mandatory cosmetic surgery. Tally then sets out on a journey to find her friend, eventually discovering that being pretty is not all it's cracked up to be. Joey King, Keith Powers, Chase Stokes, Brianne Tju, and Laverne Cox star in this sci-fi action movie.
