This year is going to be a big one for Netflix. The streaming network has tons of good Netflix shows returning with new seasons in 2024, including Bridgerton, Outer Banks, and more. There are also some brand-new Netflix shows coming in the first few months of the year that fans need to watch.
When 2024 is all over, a few of the Netflix shows on this list will be among the most popular Netflix releases of the year, possibly of all time. Let's get the list started with the most popular show on Netflix to start 2024, Harlan Coben's Fool Me Once.
Fool Me Once
- Release Date: Jan. 1, 2024
- Created by Harlan Coben
- Cast: Michelle Keegan, Richard Armitage, Adeel Akhtar, Joanna Lumley, Emmett J. Scanlan, Dino Fetscher, Jade Anouka, and Natalie Anderson
Fool Me Once is now streaming on Netflix. It's one of the first new Netflix shows of 2024, and it's a must-watch for fans of Harlan Coben and psychological thrillers. Not everything is as it seems in Fool Me Once, a new series that follows an investigation into two murders from the same family. While investigating her husband's death, Maya (Michelle Keegan) sees her supposedly dead husband, Joe (Richard Armitage), very much alive on a home security camera.
Coben is carving out his own genre on Netflix. In the last few years, we've seen a number of Coben's Netflix shows captivate audiences around the world, including The Stranger, Safe, Stay Close, The Innocent, The Woods, and Hold Tight. Even more of Coben's works are coming to Netflix soon. Stay tuned!
The Brothers Sun
- Release Date: Jan. 4, 2024
- Created by Brad Falchuk and Byron Wu
- Cast: Michelle Yeoh, Justin Chien, Sam Song Li, Highdee Kuan, Joon Lee, Alice Hewkin, Jon Xue Zhang, Jenny Yang, Madison Hu, and Rodney To
The Brothers Sun premieres on Netflix on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024. There's no doubt it will be one of the best new shows of the early part of the year on Netflix. Hopefully, this one gets picked for a second season!
Led by Michelle Yeoh, The Brothers Sun has a great cast, along with Justin Chien and Sam Song Li. The Netflix series tells the story of the Sun family. After their father, who is the leader of a Taiwanese gang, dies, Charles (Justin Chien) is pursued by assassins as he travels to Los Angeles to check in with his estranged mother, Mama Sun (Michelle Yeoh), and brother, Bruce (Sam Song Li). Charles is an expert the ways of killing while Bruce just wants to do improv.
If you like action comedies, The Brothers Sun is the show for you.

If you like Narcos and Narcos: Mexico, Griselda is the show you'll want to watch in 2024. Griselda was created by Doug Miro, Eric Newman, and Carlo Bernard, the team who brought Narcos to life, along with Ingrid Escajeda, who has produced a ton of TV hits, including Justified, Empire, Silo, and more.
Griselda tells the life story of Griselda Blanco, a Colombian drug lord. After Griselda moves to Miami with her sons, she makes partnerships and big moves to run the importing and distribution of cocaine from South America in and around the city during the 1980s.
I have a feeling this show is going to be one of the most popular shows of the year.
One Day
- Release Date: Feb. 8, 2024
- Created by Molly Manners
- Cast: Ambika Mod, Leo Woodall, Eleanor Tomlinson, Essie Davis, Tim McInnerny, Toby Stephens, Joely Richardson, and more
Just in time for Valentine's Day, Netflix is releasing a new romantic drama, One Day, starring Ambika Mod as Emma Morley and Leo Woodall as Dexter Mayhew. This one might sound familiar to some viewers. It's based on the novel of the same name by David Nichols, along with the 2011 movie adaptation. The movie starred Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess. It's been on Netflix in the past, so you might have watched it on the streamer.
One Day tells the story of Emma and Dexter, who graduated from the same university in 1998. This story and series have an interesting premise. Each episode will pick up on the same day one year apart and check in with Emma and Dexter. You'll have to tune in on Feb. 8 (or anytime after) to see how it all plays out.
Avatar: The Last Airbender
- Release Date: Feb. 22, 2024
- Created by Albert Kim
- Cast: Gordon Cormier, Kiawentiio, Ian Ousley, Dallas Liu, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, Elizabeth Yu, Daniel Dae Kim, Ken Leung, and more
Of all the shows on this list, fans will likely be most excited to watch Avatar: The Last Airbender on Netflix. Luckily, the show is less than two months away. The series is based on the incredible animated series of the same name. Netflix's live-action series has been in the works since 2018. Following the success of Netflix's One Piece, excitement for Netflix's Avatar series has never been higher.
The series tells the story of a world at war. The Avatar, wielder of all four elements (Earth, Wind, Fire, and Air), is gone, and the Fire Nation lays siege on the world. A young Air Nomad, Aang (Gordon Cormier), emerges with, hopefully, the power to fight back and restore order.
You can also watch Avatar: The Last Airbender, the animated series, along with The Legend of Korra, on Netflix right now.
3 Body Problem
- Release Date: March 21, 2024
- Created by David Benioff, D. B. Weiss, and Alexander Woo
- Cast: Saamer Usmani, Jess Hong, Jovan Adepo, Sea Shimooka, Benedict Wong, Tsai Chin, John Bradley, Eiza González, Liam Cunningham, and more
3 Body Problem is based on the novel, The Three-Body Problem, and Remembrance of Earth's Past trilogy by Liu Cixin. It's been adapted and developed by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss, who adapted George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire into a little show called Game of Thrones or HBO, along with Alexander Woo. Needless to say, hopes are high for this sci-fi series.
Here is the synopsis of the series, via Netflix:
"A young woman’s fateful decision in 1960s China reverberates across space and time to a group of brilliant scientists in the present day. As the laws of nature unravel before their eyes five former colleagues reunite to confront the greatest threat in humanity’s history."
If you're a fan of sci-fi or Game of Thrones, this is the Netflix show for you to watch in 2024!
