While there's certainly no shortage in television shows to watch these days, the obscene amount of choice can create an obvious overwhelm for us consumers. What should we invest our time in before a potential cancellation? What shows should we watch first and which should we skip for the future? Should we just rewatch our comfort shows on a loop for the hundredth time?

It's tough to know which shows to add to your watch list when so many titles are cycling in and out of headlines and popularity rankings on various streaming services. But I think there's one thing that's becoming more and more clear in the shows that are among the most-watched on Netflix in the past year: Multiple seasons with more than a handful of episodes per season.

We want to stick around for a while with the characters and actually become engrossed in the story before it ends quickly and we have to wait possibly a year or more for the next season. Lately, Netflix has been acquiring more binge-able dramas that have sailed right into the top 10, and these five are great options to watch in April 2024 if you haven't already watched... or even if you have!

Killing Eve

  • Seasons: 4
  • Produced By: Sally Woodward Gentle
  • Starring: Sandra Oh, Jodie Comer, Fiona Shaw, Kim Bodnia, and others
  • Watch on Netflix: Killing Eve (beginning April 15)

Two years after the series came to an end, the critically acclaimed and Emmy Award-winning series Killing Eve makes its return to the spotlight with its arrival on Netflix in April 2024. The spy thriller centers on an intelligence investigator (Sandra Oh) given the dangerous task of tracking and capturing an assassin (Jodie Comer). The cat and mouse chase between Eve and Villanelle produces an unexpected bond between the two, which lasted for four exciting seasons.

While Killing Eve doesn't have as many seasons or episodes (eight episodes per season, 32 episodes total) as some of the 100-episode broadcast and cable hits burning up Netflix's top 10 lately, there's no doubt viewers will become reacquainted and re-obsessed with the show that seemingly had most of the world in a chokehold. A lot of fans have written off the final season, but if this will be your first time watching the addictive drama, you'll have to see the ending for yourself to decide.

  • Watch on Netflix: The Resident

Switching gears from a spy thriller to a medical drama, Fox's The Resident found a bit of renewed popularity when all six seasons arrived on Netflix in March 2024. Gilmore Girls vet Matt Czuchry and Revenge star Emily VanCamp headline the series, which takes place in a fast-paced hospital environment and featured a revolving door of cast changes. But it's clear to see why the show connected with so many fans and why it's continuing to connect post-cancellation.

Even though the show might have exited the top 10, it's still one of the best drama shows to watch on Netflix. While it's available on Netflix for the next 18 months, The Resident will likely continue to pick up new fans. It's picking up some word of mouth, too, as some of it's more unique storylines make the rounds on social media and inspire people to start watching on Netflix. Bring your tissues and settle in for one of television's most underrated medical dramas.

  • Watch on Netflix: All American

Since All American has been a popular series since it premiered on The CW back in October 2018, it's unlikely that there's anyone who would watch that show that still hasn't. But you never know! Sometimes it takes years for people to discover shows they love, so there's no time like the present to give any show a shot. If you're looking for drama and love both football and teen dramas, then you should definitely add The CW hit to your watch list.

The sixth season of All American started airing in April 2024 and picked up with a time jump past the aftermath of one of the show's most shocking twists yet. Because season 6 will only contain 13 episodes due to the strikes causing delays, the season will come to an end sometime this summer and land on Netflix a week after its finale. You want to make sure you're all caught up and ready to dive right into the latest episodes!

  • Watch on Netflix: Bridgerton

For similar reasons to All American's inclusion that should be obvious, now is the time to rewatch Bridgerton to prepare for season 3's two-part drop! By the time Bridgerton season 3 begins with the four-episode first part on May 16, over two years will have passed since season 2 released in March 2022. And if you haven't watched season 1 since it released in December 2020, then you have likely forgotten a lot of what happened in the early episodes of the series.

Both seasons only contain eight episodes each, which is a rather reasonable length for a binge-watch. You can space them out and knock out both seasons over a weekend in April, but for devoted fans, a rewatch should be in serious consideration ahead of season 3. And if you still haven't joined all of us fans and seen for yourself what all the fuss is about, jump right in and catch up in time to watch what's sure to be the show's biggest season yet when it premieres in May and June.

If spy thrillers, medical dramas, teen dramas, and period romances aren't quite your cup of tea, then maybe historical dramas will hit the spot. In addition to all of its most popular romantic, supernatural, sci-fi, crime, and other drama subgenre series, Netflix also has a fair share of action and adventure series to its name, and in the past month, the History Channel series Vikings dropped on the streamer and has been a steady fixture in the daily top 10.

It's no wonder Vikings making its way to Netflix has resulted in success, given that its sequel series Vikings: Valhalla is not only a Netflix original series but also a fan-favorite one. The third and final season of Vikings: Valhalla will premiere sometime in 2024, which makes its predecessor setting the stage for its farewell all the more fitting. Whether you're watching Vikings for the first time or rewatching it before Valhalla ends, you will certainly be entertained.
