Netflix doesn't have a lot of new horror movies coming in July 2024, but there are definitely a few recently added scary movies that fans of horror movies need to watch this summer on Netflix.

We shared the list of four horror movies that are new to Netflix in the month of July. Sadly, most of them aren't "new," but you probably haven't seen them all.

Let's get the list started with a modern classic starring Christian Bale.

American Psycho

  • Release year: 2000
  • Director: Mary Herron
  • Cast: Christian Bale, Willem Dafoe, Reese Witherspoon, Josh Lucas, Jared Leto, Samantha Mathis, Justin Theroux, Chloë Sevigny, Matt Ross, Bill Sage, Cara Seymour, and Guinevere Turner

It's been over two decades since the premiere of American Psycho, and it's always a great rewatch when the movie hits Netflix, which it does quite often. American Psycho is based on Bret Easton Ellis's novel of the same name. The film tells the story of Patrick Bateman (Bale), a serial killer by night and investor by day, who kills his colleagues and others in his circle.

If you're a fan of dark comedies and horror movies, American Psycho is the pick for you to watch on Netflix in July!

Annabelle

  • Release year: 2014
  • Director: John R. Leonetti
  • Cast: Annabelle Wallis, Alfre Woodard, Ward Horton, and more

Annabelle was added to Netflix on July 1. If you're a fan of The Conjuring movies, this is definitely the horror movie for you to watch on Netflix. In fact, Netflix has many of The Conjuring movies, including the first three Conjuring movies, available to stream right now. Sounds like it's a great time for a Conjuring marathon.

Annabelle is the spinoff and prequel to The Conjuring movies. It tells the story of Annabelle, a haunted doll. Real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, who The Conjuring movies are based on, came across the doll before the events of The Conjuring.

Jigsaw

  • Release year: 2017
  • Director: Peter and Michael Spierig
  • Cast: Hannah Emily Anderson, Matt Passmore, Callum Keith Rennie, Clé Bennett, Tobin Bell, Laura Vandervoort, and more

Like American Psycho and Annabelle, Jigsaw was released on Netflix on July 1. The film is techincally the eighth movie of the Saw franchise. It was the first Saw movie in seven years when it premiered in 2017. Although the film received negative reviews, it opened the door for two more Saw movies with Spiral and Saw X.

In the film, which is set up basically like many of the other Saw movies, several people try to survive "games" with their lives on the line while detectives investigate a series of crimes that appear to be committed by the Jigsaw Killer, as he's been known. The problem? The killer was believed to be killed.

Jigsaw has been in the Netflix Top 10 since it hit the streaming service earlier this month.

The Nun

  • Release year: 2018
  • Director: Corin Hardy
  • Cast: Demián Bichir, Taissa Farmiga, Jonas Bloquet, Bonnie Aarons, Charlotte Hope, and Ingrid Bisu

Are you in the mood for more movies set in The Conjuring Universe? The Nun was just added to Netflix in July 2024. The Nun is a spinoff of The Conjuring movies, and it tells the story of -- you guessed it! -- The Nun!

In the film, Sister Irene, played by Taissa Farmiga, and Father Burke, played by Demián Bichir, investigate a sinister evil force in Romania in the 1950s. You'll definitely recognize Farmiga, who happens to be the younger sister of Vera, who is the star of The Conjuring movies.

That's the list of horror movies to watch on Netflix in July! If you need some other horror movies to watch, we highly recommend the Fear Street trilogy, Bodies Bodies Bodies, and Under Paris. It's Shark Week after all!
