3 Harlan Coben shows we wish were on Netflix (but sadly aren't)
Harlan Coben's work has pretty much taken over the thriller section on Netflix, and we're not complaining at all! Many of his bestselling thriller novels have been turned into Netflix original series, and there are still many more to come through his ongoing creative partnership with Netflix. There are a total of eight Harlan Coben Netflix shows currently streaming so far, with Fool Me Once being the most recent addition.
Back in January 2024, Netflix greenlit two more Harlan Coben television adaptations. His 2014 book Missing You will be adapted into a limited series for Netflix, as well as his 2019 book Run Away. Other confirmed upcoming Harlan Coben Netflix adaptations include a Myron Bolitar television series, a movie or TV adaptation of the 2021 thriller novel Win, and a movie adaptation of Coben's 2013 standalone book Six Years.
Since filming for Missing You is scheduled to start in the United Kingdom in spring 2024, I guess it's safe to say that this will be the next Harlan Coben show landing on Netflix in the near future. But while we're over the moon about there being so much more to expect from Coben, we can't help but think about some of his other shows that have already been released, just not on Netflix. Since he has such a good rapport with Netflix, we're hoping the streaming giant will one day acquire the streaming rights to these other shows.

Shelter (2023)
Shelter is a mystery drama series that was developed by Harlan Coben and his daughter, Charlotte Coben, for Amazon Prime Video. Based on Coben's book of the same name, Shelter centers around a teen boy named Mickey Bolitar. After his father dies, Mickey has to start all over again in suburban New Jersey. While he does make new friends in the new town, he soon finds himself entangled in a web of secrets as he attempts to uncover a decades-long mystery within the quiet suburban community.
Colin in Black & White actor Jaden Michael plays the role of the protagonist, Mickey Bolitar. In addition, Constance Zimmer, Adrian Greensmith, Abby Corrigan, Sage Linder, and Brian Altemus join Michael in the main cast.
Sadly, Shelter was canceled after only one season by Amazon Prime. But although this is bad news, we still want the show to come to Netflix. Who knows, maybe it'll fare well on the platform and Netflix will pick it up for another season. Fingers crossed! But for now, you can watch the mystery drama on Amazon Prime.
The Five (2016)
Created by Harlan Coben himself, The Five is a British mystery thriller series that aired on Sky One from April to May 2016 for a total of one season. The show follows a group of four childhood friends as they try to uncover the mystery behind the disappearance of one of their own 20 years ago. In 1995, best friends Mark, Danny, Slade, and Pru are left devastated after Mark's younger brother goes missing while they're at the park. Flash forward 20 years later and Danny now works as a detective. When Mark's younger brother's DNA is discovered at the scene of a murder, the four childhood friends reunite and work together to find out the truth behind his disappearance.
The talented main cast is made up of Tom Cullen, O. T. Fagbenle, Lee Ingleby, and Sarah Solemani. Unfortunately, this miniseries is not available to stream or purchase anywhere in the U.S. That's why we think it would be a good decision for Netflix to obtain the streaming rights. It would be the show's main streaming home.
No Second Chance (2015)
No Second Chance is a French thriller series based on Coben's 2003 novel of the same name. When Dr. Alice Lambert is shot in the back while in her home, she's rushed to the hospital where she stays in a coma for eight days. When she finally wakes up, she discovers that her husband has been killed and her infant daughter has been abducted. She later finds a ransom note from the abductors, asking for 1 million euros in exchange for the safety return of her baby. But the catch is that she can't involve the police. Desperate to be reunited with her baby, Alice does everything she can to find her.
French actress Alexandra Lamy portrays the role of Dr. Alice Lambert. Pascal Elbé, Lionel Abelanski, Hippolyte Girardot, Charlotte Des Georges, Lionnel Astier, and many others are also in the cast. Sadly, you can not watch this show anywhere in the U.S., including on streaming. This is once again a good opportunity for Netflix to swoop in and secure the streaming rights. I'm just saying...
