Peaky Blinders was a slow burn. The series was fantastic from the beginning, but it took a bit for American audiences, especially, to warm up to the show. After a few seasons, we simply could not get enough.
There were six seasons of the show over nine years with a plot that revolved around Thomas Shelby and his family in Birmingham, England. There was lots of violence, sure, but we likely even found ourselves rooting for Shelby even though he was, at times, a horrible person. The magic found by series creator Steven Knight is the same type that Vince Gilligan made on Breaking Bad.
That is while the main character might be completely unlikeable at points, there were always worse people than them. Far worse.
Peaky Blinders creator promises The Immortal Man will not be the end
Peaky Blinders fans have known for some time that there is a movie forthcoming. The hope is that it will be released during 2025, but there is no firm release date yet. The film, called The Immortal Man, will star Murphy, of course, but we will see Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth, and Barry Keoghan join the cast as well. Plot points are not to be had yet, but, according to Knight, this film will not be the last we see of the Shelbys.
Speaking with Times Radio recently, Knight was asked about any future plans for the characters, and he answered, "Well, it’s interesting you should ask that question because the film is coming out, and that won’t be the end."
He added whether future projects would be a film or another season, "It won’t be the end, let me put it that way. I’m not saying none of it."
Knight also appeared to imply that the new film will be out in about a year. This might mean Netflix viewers get a Christmas gift in 2025 of a new Peaky Blinders film, assuming that the movie is released on the streaming service and not in theaters.
Filming has wrapped, so all that is left is everything else, and everything else can take a long time. Still, for some, we could simply be entertained by the characters sitting around talking about literally anything. That is how extremely well they were written and acted.
