Following the release of The Night Agent season 3 in February 2026, fans are hoping for some good news about the show's future, and that includes the return of a fan-favorite character. There's a new casting update for a different hit Netflix show that might throw a wrench in those hopes.

Luciane Buchanan, who starred in the first two seasons of The Night Agent as Rose Larkin, has joined the cast of Untamed season 2. Netflix's hit National Park mystery-thriller moves to Hawaii for its second season and has added a number of new cast members set to join Eric Bana.

Buchanan will have a recurring guest star role according to Netflix. She will play Ku’ulei Pana, a detective with the Hawaii police department who has been tasked with taking on the central murder investigation in Untamed season 2, and having grown up on the island, Ku’ulei has connections that will ultimately help Kyle Turner's case at the Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park.

While Buchanan's role isn't a series regular, which means she likely won't appear in all six episodes of the show's second season, her new Netflix role could still interfere with a potential return in The Night Agent season 4. Buchanan hasn't been confirmed to return as Rose Larkin just yet, but series creator Shawn Ryan suggested that he would "beg her to come back" if there's story worth telling.

Likewise, Buchanan previously opened up and said she would be willing to return to The Night Agent in the future, as her exit was amicable and not a source of tension at all. Rather than squeezing Rose into season 3 without much to do, he opted to keep her offscreen, meaning Buchanan's exit was a mutual agreed upon creative decision with the option for Rose to return in the future.

It's still possible that Buchanan could reprise her role in The Night Agent season 4 if that were to be something Ryan and the writing team come up with. (As of this writing, Netflix hasn't officially renewed the series.) Untamed season 2 reportedly begins filming this spring, per Deadline, and could wrap in time for Buchanan to film The Night Agent, even if filming overlaps.

Again, there's still a lot up in the air that has yet to be confirmed. Buchanan's role in Untamed season 2 is super exciting, especially since she's joining another hit Netflix original series. But I can't help but keep my fingers crossed that after Rose was mentioned all throughout season 3, she will pop back up at least once in The Night Agent season 4 — should it get renewed, of course.

In addition to Buchanan's casting, Untamed season 2 also adds Moon Bloodgood and Kekoa Kekumano as series regulars and Moronai Kanekoa, Robbie Magasiva, Myra Molloy, Branscombe Richmond, Matthew Keoni Sato, and Joe Tippett as recurring guest stars. Bana, Shea Whigham, and Kelly Hu round out the previously announced main cast so far.
