When Netflix removes television shows each month, it's a frustrating reality for many fans. We become comfortable with our favorite shows being available at the press of a button and enjoy the accessibility of being to watch them whenever the mood strikes. But eventually most shows end up getting removed from Netflix, no matter how long they have been on the platform.

However, if we're incredibly lucky, certain shows manage to find their way back to Netflix in the future. It's not always the case, but it has happened a few times, like with Gossip Girl and Dawson's Creek. Horror fans are about to have quite the exciting summer as one of the most underrated, in every sense of the word, show is planning a major streaming comeback on Netflix.

Hannibal seasons 1-3 coming to Netflix this summer

The streaming service announced its complete list of new release movies and shows for the month of July 2026, and the list included the surprise reveal that Hannibal returns to Netflix this summer. The NBC psychological thriller brings all three of its seasons back to the streaming service on Monday, July 27, 2026. It's finally time for the series to get the spotlight it deserves!

Hannibal was previously available to stream on Netflix before it was ultimately removed in June 2021, but half a decade later, it's making a return trip to the one streamer that could have the power to help revive its profile and allow fans old and new and give it the coveted "Netflix bump." By all accounts, it's the perfect time for the series to receive a second look in the streaming world.

Based on the characters from the Thomas Harris books Red Dragon, Hannibal, and Hannibal Rising, the series made its premiere on NBC back in April 2013 as quite the content risk for the broadcast network. Hannibal doesn't shy away from the grittier aspects of the story as FBI investigator Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) becomes entangled with forensic psychologist Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen). Before long, Hannibal begins to manipulate Graham into also being a killer.

After three seasons and 39 total episodes, NBC opted to cancel the series despite its consistent critical acclaim and cult following. The series, which aired outside of the fall season for all three of its seasons, struggled to gain ratings traction as a show that was outside of the usual content aired on NBC. But after the cancellation, talks with Prime Video and Netflix began to ultimately no avail.

Since the show's ending, there have been murmurs and mentions of possible revivals, and series creator Bryan Fuller gave an update in November 2025, explaining that he and the cast are all on board to return and continue the story with a fourth season. But of course, there isn't currently anything in development, though you should never say never these days.

Hopefully, the show's latest turn on Netflix will help further the fans' agenda to finally get the ending they — and the series — deserved the first time around. Make sure to set your reminders now for Hannibal's return to Netflix on July 27.
