Ever since rumors began swirling that Netflix would be removing Gilmore Girls from its library this summer, fans have been willing this information to not be true. We can't imagine a world where the beloved series isn't available to watch on Netflix, but as hard as we were manifesting a positive outcome, it's time to start imagining that world without Gilmore Girls on Netflix.

While the series has been the subject of false removal rumors in the past, causing mass concern among fans online each time these rumors spread, the latest batch of reports about the series possibly leaving Netflix held some weight. Some fans had reported seeing a removal notice, and other outlets suggested Netflix's license with Warner Bros. had ended. Well, it's all true.

Gilmore Girls leaves Netflix in June 2026

Netflix announced on Monday, June 15 with a social media post that all seven seasons of the original Gilmore Girls series will leave Netflix in the United States on Tuesday, June 30. The streaming service gave fans two-week notice of the imminent removal, and even though the series has been an annual staple during the fall months, it wouldn't be a surprise if fans sent the show back onto the Top 10.

Yes, Gilmore Girls seasons 1-7 are set to be pulled from Netflix's library in the United States, and even though it was originally assumed that the Netflix original revival miniseries Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, What's on Netflix reported that the revivial series will be out the door behind the original. The four-episode miniseries leaves Netflix on Nov. 25, 2026, exactly 10 years after its premiere. Despite being a co-production between Netflix and Warner Bros., Netflix had a 10 years of exclusivity. Currently, a new streamer for the revival miniseries hasn't been set.

Gilmore Girls has been one of the main draws for many Netflix subscribers since the show was added to the platform in October 2014. The resurgence of the show's popularity on streaming influenced the revival series, which debuted on Netflix in November 2016. Despite the decades that have elapsed since the show's premiere and ending, it has endured into a timeless classic.

For many fans, Gilmore Girls being removed from Netflix will be a great loss. The show might even be one of the main reasons some have kept their subscription to the streamer (though you're missing out on other great content if that's the case!). You might be inclined to fight the good fight to make Netflix reverse course, but it's no use as the powers that be have likely tried to hash out a new deal.

But if there's any silver lining, it's that Gilmore Girls will never, ever be without a streaming home. Currently, all seven seasons are available stream on Hulu, and if you have a bundle subscription, you can also watch the series on Disney+. There's no doubt that sometime in the near future, the series will also be added to HBO Max since that's home to most shows produced and distributed by WBTV.

Sneak in your last trips to Stars Hollow before Gilmore Girls leaves Netflix on June 30, 2026 and you have to follow where Lorelai and Rory lead next!
