A different feel.

There is a lot going on with the Stranger Things franchise. This includes the fifth and final season arriving later in 2025, a recent stage show based on the show was massively successful, and there will be a new animated series, too.

The animated show will be called Stranger Things: Tales from '85, and has been rumored to be in production since 2023. The timeline for the series to be released is not yet known, but it might not happen until 2026. There is a chance Netflix delivers the series ahead of the final live-action season's drop.

According to an X/Twitter handle named Hawkins Happenings, which, to be clear, is not directly affiliated with Netflix, the actors doing the voices of the six major characters that will be shown in the animated series will be voiced by different people who do the acting in the live-action version.

Stranger Things: Tales from '85 likely to feature different actors than the live-action series

In other words, it is expected that Millie Bobby Brown will not voice Eleven, Finn Wolfhard will not voice Mike, and so on. The actors who will do the work on Stranger Things: Tales from '85 are unknown.

None of this has been confirmed by Netflix or the Duffer Brothers, who created the original series, but the rumor from Hawkins Happenings makes sense. The actors in the live-action series have grown up and will likely move on to other projects, leaving Stranger Things far behind.

Millie Bobby Brown has already started doing this with her Enola Holmes films and other projects. Wolfhard has been involved in the Ghostbusters franchise. Plus, paying the actors from the original series to do voice work would not be inexpensive.

As the name of the animated series implies, the show will follow Eleven, Will, Mike, Dustin, Lucas, and Max. 1985 would place the animated series between seasons 2 and 3 of the live-action show. While adults can obviously voice the characters of children, it is more likely that Netflix has found younger actors to do the work on the animated show.

The fifth and final season of Stranger Things will appear in three parts. The first part, which will be four epsiodes long, will drop at 8 pm ET on November 26. The second part, featuring three episodes, will drop at 8 pm ET on Christmas Day. The final will be released at 8 pm ET on New Year's Eve.
