Netflix is giving A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder fans something to be thankful for this holiday season!
Nearly three months after making its debut on Aug. 1, 2024, Netlfix has announced A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder has been renewed for a second season which will premiere globally (sans a few territories) on Netflix as well as on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer in the UK and Ireland. While we don’t yet have a premiere date, Netflix did confirm the co-production will begin in 2025 and that the second season will consist of six episodes, which is in line with the show’s first season.
Although A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder debuted at No. 1 on the Global Top 10 TV (English) list, the show’s renewal is a bit of a surprise as the show didn’t create too much buzz for Netflix in the way other new series have this year such as The Perfect Couple and Nobody Wants This. In fact, if we had to guess, the fact that the show is a co-production likely played a major role in the decision and in helping to guarantee Pip Fitz-Amobi’s story will continue beyond season 1.
Season 2 will see Emma Myers return as Pip with Zain Iqbal confirmed to return as Ravi Singh, and additional cast members to be announced at a later date. The second season will adapt Good Girl, Bad Blood, the second book in Holly Jackson’s book series which the show is based on and Jackson will once again be along for the ride in working on the new season alongside Poppy Cogan.
So just what can fans expect in the new season? Well, I’m glad you asked because Netflix offered up the official season 2 synopsis when confirming the show’s renewal which helps to give us a glimpse into what’s to come next. Here's what Netflix is teasing of the new season:
“After solving the Andie Bell case Pip‘s world has been transformed by her actions, and not always for the better. Pip is determined to fix the fallout - and stay away from any more investigations. But as Max Hastings’ trial approaches, key witness Jamie Reynolds suddenly disappears and Pip finds herself in a race against time to find him. This new mystery will take Pip to unexpected places as she struggles with the idea of justice, straying even further from the 'good girl' she once was.”
It seems season 2 will be quite a transformative season for Pip and we’re sure fans are going to be excited to see the show returning for another season. In the meantime, there is no better time to revisit the show’s first season or to finally give the show a chance now that you can rest assured it won’t be another one-and-done Netflix Original.
