In the series, the rich and powerful Winbury family prepares to welcome a new member of the family as they gather for a beachside wedding. Maybe they're not the perfect couple, or even the perfect family, after all.
Before you begin watching The Perfect Couple on Netflix, you're probably wondering how explicit the mystery thriller will get throughout its six episodes. We're sharing a spoiler-free rundown of the show's age rating, including its instances of sex, nudity, language, and drugs,
The Perfect Couple is rated TV-MA for language and substances
According to the show's official page on Netflix, The Perfect Couple has earned a TV-MA rating for language and substances, indicating that the show is for mature audiences. Sex, nudity, and violence are not included in the show's rating, though some of those things are featured in the series. Here's a further breakdown of what you can expect from the series.
Sex and nudity
As indicated by the show's rating, sex and nudity don't play a large role in the series. In an early episode, there is an intimate scene between a male character and a female character, though nothing ends up happening. There's no nudity, though the male is shirtless and in boxer shorts. The same couple later has sex in a kitchen. Again, there's no nudity shown. Two other opposite sex couples in the series have implied intimate scenes without nudity. The closest thing to nudity involves a woman walking in on a man in the shower, but he's only shown from the waist up.
Language and violence
Obviously, when a series is rated TV-MA for language, there will be profanity heard throughout the series. Heightened language is sprinkled in here and there, so if you're sensitive to profanity, prepare to hear some f-bombs and other colorful language. As for violence, there is no gore or blood in the series beyond a character's cut hand. There's a scene with guns, though they aren't fired. If you're squeamish with situations involving water, here's your warning that drowning is mentioned and shown on screen.
Drinking and drugs
More so than the other thematic categories, drinking and drugs are the biggest factor in the show's age rating. The Winbury family drinks liquor heavily and frequently. There's a scene involving two minor characters underage drinking. One character becomes forced to admit their struggles with alcoholism to the public, though it's only half-heartedly. Many characters frequently smoke marijuana from a joint throughout the series, and prescription medications and pills are also frequently discussed and shown on screen.
