It's the exciting time of the year when television fans learn what all of the networks have planned for the following year. There are renewals announced, cancellations mourned, and schedules set to preview the next season of television, and just like years past, Netflix got in on the fun. During Netflix's 2026 Upfronts presentation, the streamer made a number of exciting announcements.
On top of announcing a number of exciting new shows, like the new Harlan Coben series Myron Bolitar and the drama series Calabasas from Kim Kardashian and Emma Roberts, Netflix also went for quite the renewal spree. The unscripted series Quarterback and Love is Blind were both picked up for new seasons, with the football series back for season 3 and the reality series back for season 11.
However, the real excitement for fans came with the renewals of three scripted Netflix shows that are among the streamer's most popular. Shortly after its premiere in April, Dan Levy's crime comedy Big Mistakes earned a season 2 renewal, while Mindy Kaling's basketball comedy Running Point starring Kate Hudson rebounded perfectly from its second season with a season 3 pickup.
Ahead of My Life with the Walter Boys season 3, which is expected to premiere later this year, Netflix went ahead and gave the beloved teen romantic drama an early season 4 renewal. Unfortunately, another teen romance series can't say the same about being picked up for season 4. And a recent action-thriller hit still awaits word on its fate beyond its first season.

Left off the list during Netflix's renewal spree was XO, Kitty and Man on Fire. The To All the Boys I've Loved Before spinoff series debuted its third season in early April 2026, before Big Mistakes or Running Point season 2 premiered later the same month. It's interesting that the show wasn't also included in the Upfronts news, but the series could still very well land a renewal for season 4.
If XO, Kitty season 4 snags a renewal, it's on the table that it could be the final season of the teen rom-com series. A fourth season would be the perfect time to end Kitty's journey. As for Man on Fire, it's still slightly early for Netflix to make a decision, as the streamer's probably still keeping a close eye on the viewership numbers and completion rate before announcing anything concrete.
So far, Man on Fire has been performing well on the Global Top 10 and built upon its audience between its opening weekend and first full week of release. If we were betting, we'd expect the show to earn a season 2 renewal, but we'll have to wait and see. Netflix will be in need of a new action series now that The Night Agent will be coming to an end with its fourth season next year.
XO, Kitty and Man on Fire are the two main Netflix shows renewal or cancellation decisions as of May 14, and we'll be keeping our fingers crossed that positive news comes sooner rather than later for both shows. In addition to renewal news and series green lights, Netflix's Upfronts confirmed Bridgerton will be back in 2027 and revealed The Lincoln Lawyer is also ending with a final season.
