Before we get too deep into this, this article will not be about what Karla Sofía Gascón tweeted some years ago but about how Netflix can move on from the fiasco and still run a publicity campaign for the amazing film Emilia Pérez. See, the tweets were so heinous that the streamer has distanced itself from Gascón, who was nominated for Best Actress at the Academy Awards.

Instead of Gascón joining the junkets in Los Angeles, the actress has stayed in Spain while the mess over her social media posts dissipates. One cannot know for sure if it will. The issue for the actress is that she was not a big name in Hollywood until her star performance in the Netflix movie. This could curtail a true run at stardom.

The issue for Netflix is that the streamer now has to sell the 13-time Oscar-nominated film to voters without the featured actress being present. Plus, nearly everyone who votes likely knows now about Gascón's posts. The hope is that the problem does not stop the movie from rightfully winning Best Picture or supporting actresses Zoe Saldaña or Ariana Grande from getting what they deserve from their performances as well.

Karla Sofía Gascón and Netflix might be at odds, Kevin Costner hopes for more

In completely different news, Kevin Costner likes to do things his own way many times, and good for him. He has earned that right. He also is not against self-funding his own passion pieces, though they might cost him quite a bit of money in the end. The actor quit the hit series Yellowstone to make his Horizon films, only they bombed at the box office.

Costner fell into the trap of making the films far too long, just as he did with Waterworld decades before. That does not mean the end product was bad, only that people lost interest especially because the first two Horizon films were released just weeks apart. That was too much of one Western too close together.

Only, the movies have done solid business after being picked up from Netflix. So much so that Life & Style says that Costner is hoping Netflix will fund the last two films of what was supposed to be a four-movie arc. If that doesn't happen, he might have to start selling some real estate to recoup his losses.

Netflix is not giving up on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

One couple has gotten some good news from the streamer already. While Prince Harry and Meghan Markle signed a deal with Netflix to produce a lot of different kinds of series, those series have not done very well. The streamer is not ready to give up on the deal, though.

The issue may be that the Duke and Duchess are trying to sell themselves too much instead of allowing people they trust to make good content. That could be the case. Either way, Netflix is not giving up on them yet.
