Recently, we ran a poll on our Facebook page about shows Netflix viewers did not like over the last few years. One of the biggest complaints was that we simply seemed to be getting overloaded with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stories. The couple has tried to leave the Royal Family behind so that they can lead a "normal" life.
The issue with that is the couple simply will never be able to live that way. The issue is not even their fault. Prince Harry was born into royalty and whether he likes it or not, he is going to get noticed and have a level of fame because of that. Markle married the Prince, of course, so her life was forever changed when that happened.
Still, the two strain so hard to tell us they are normal that their words are seemingly becoming more hollow. Instead of creating shows and giving interviews to tell us how they are and how they should be seen then maybe they should simply not do those things.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle about to unleash new Netflix Original
That also is never going to happen, however. In 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle signed a $100 million deal with Netflix to produce scripted and unscripted TV series, films, and children's programming. Now, they could have created all those things and left themselves out of it, but that is not their way. Their faces on screen are important to the deal, it seems.
The latest of their programming arrives on Netflix on January 15 and is called With Love, Meghan. The show has Markle in Martha Stewart mode where she cooks, gardens, and chats with famous people. The trailer does not exactly scream "normal."
In fact, the show might further expose just how truly out of touch Prince Harry and Markle are. Again, they cannot help it because of their social status and high financial level. That is meant as no disrespect to them as human beings for enjoying financial freedom, but it is a bit ironic that they live the way they do and want to still be seen as the same as the rest of the world.
What might have been a great idea is if With Love, Meghan was something more akin to what Conan O'Brien does on his podcast, where he has listeners with real lives and real jobs calls in, and O'Brien interviews them. Markle could have gone that route but didn't. She's too normal for that.
