In a recent unscientific poll, Netflix viewers named the worst Netflix Original of the last two years. (Really, so many people were turned off by one program that the worst shows included the last three years.) We asked a simple question on our Facebook page, and we got a lot of responses, but many of them pointed to two shows that people did not like much at all.
At least, the people who responded did not. Oddly, one of the shows has won numerous awards. The other most disliked favored two persons that we know are not going away from the public eye ever. Heck, even they cannot help it. And if you saw the header photo for this article, you know those two people are Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
But let's start with the second-most disliked series, and possibly the most surprising to show up on the list. That would be Baby Reindeer, a show about a stand-up comedian who has a stalker and how that narrative evolves in a very unlikely way. While there were not many comments about why viewers did not like the series, there was a through-line of thought.
What is the worst Netflix Original of the last two (OK, three) years?
That was that while people might not have liked the show, they had to keep watching until the end because the series was so weird. One could not help wanting to know what was going to happen even though a person might have hated what was actually going on. We felt bad for the stalker at times, and the main character became more unlikeable. That, of course, was the point.
The other series people seemed to not care for was Harry & Meghan. What is odd is that while Harry and Meghan have consistently said they did not want to be a part of the Royal family and simply wanted to be "normal" people, they appear to do things to stay in the spotlight. This is probably why people were turned off from the 2022 series.
We get it, right? Harry and Meghan are rich and Harry was born into wealth and excess. Poor them. Sure, everyone has their issues, and that's fair, but one cannot also pretend to understand what it is like to live like the subjects if one never has to.
