If you saw Alan Alda's 1981 version of The Four Seasons, you know the film was a charming, if not overly biting, drama-comedy about three couples who go on vacations each season (which seems like a lot, to be honest). The happy dynamic is broken once one of the couples splits up. One of the persons in that couple ends up bringing a much younger person along on following trips.
If you were a fan of the film, you should be excited to know that Tina Fey created an adaptation in a series format and bringing that to Netflix. The series with feature eight 30-minute long episodes. That implies Fey's adaptation will be much more of a pure comedy than a melodrama. Good.
In fact, the new trailer for the series dropped by Netflix on Thursday implies the series won't only be funny, but a little goofy, too. Great. That is honestly only likely to make the premise funnier. We don't need eight episodes of 30 minutes that lead us down the path of dispair and sadness. The original premise already nods as silliness.
New trailer for Netflix and Tina Fey's The Four Seasons drops
Of course, this being a Fey project, we are also likely to get a lot of well-written interpersonal connections, too. Iconic characters could appear out of nowhere, and probably will. Too bad Jack McBrayer is not somehow attached to the new Netflix series.
But the cast is amazing. Just watching these actors sit around a table playing cards would be interesting. And Fey, along with co-creators Lang Fisher and Tracey Wigfield, has made sure the acting talent is not just drama gems. There is pure comedic ability involved as well.
When is The Four Seasons being released?
The wait is not long, Netflix fans. Your favorite streamer is set to drop the comedy on May 1, 2025. As we all know, Netflix brings us the whole series at once, too, so make your plans to binge-watch the show in early May.
What is the cast for The Four Seasons?
It is a who's-who in cinematic comedy over the last couple of decades. Plus, one actor who is probably worthy of getting an Oscar nod every year.
The list includes Steve Carell, Colman Domingo (Oscar alert!), Fey, Kerri Kennedy, Will Forte, and Marco Calvani. Will we see some surprise guest stars? Let's hope so.
But what about that trailer? You can see it above. If weren't excited to see the series before now, you likely are now.
