Netflix is dropping 18 movies and series this week (May 3-9, 2025)

Hard to say so long.

At least the initial May deluge is done. Many titles leave your favorite streamer in the first week of each month, and then there is more of a trickle until the end of the month. Still, quite a few excellent movies and series are going away in week two.

A few of the titles are related to horror. That is interesting. Maybe Netflix is gearing up for a summer of fun, and that eschews being scared. Or maybe being scared is fun, too, and the streaming giant wanted to make room for other horror titles.

Either way, 18 titles are leaving, and you have just a day or a few to catch them. Some are must-see projects.

Netflix devotees will need to say goodbye to these 18 movies and series this week

May 4

  • Family Blood (2018)
  • Insidious: The Red Door (2023)
  • Rowdy Fellow (2014)
  • Thammudu (1999)
  • Three (2012)

The final chapter of the Insidious franchise leaves this week. Critics mostly panned the film, but fans thought it was good. If you are a fan of horror, and you haven't seen this flick, you will likely love it.

May 5

  • The Peanut Butter Falcon (2019)

This movie is a gem, but beware because the heartstrings will be pulled. A person with Down syndrome escapes from where he is staying to try to become a pro wrestler and meets an outlaw in his journey. The acting by all the cast is fantastic.

May 6

  • Like a Rolling Stone: The Life & Times of Ben Fong-Torres (2022)
  • Sí, Mi Amor (2020)
  • Squaring the Circle (The Story of Hipgnosis) (2022)

May 7

  • Emergency Travel (2019)
  • Red Card (2017)
  • Si Doel the Movie (2018)
  • Si Doel the Movie 2 (2019)

Red Card is just what you think it will be: A film that revolves around soccer. But this comedy from India is pure fun.

May 8

  • Buried: The 1982 Alpine Meadows Avalanche (2022)
  • Justice League (Seasons 1-2)
  • Justice League: Unlimited (Seasons 1-2)

May 9

  • Resident Evil: Death Island (2023)
  • The Lost City (2022)

Both these films are worth watching before they leave, but for obviously different reasons. The Lost City is a farcical goof led by Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum. Resident Evil: Death Island is another chapter in the horror franchise that critics continue to adore.
