Netflix is dropping 18 movies and series this week (June 15-21, 2025)

For some sad reason, Netflix has chosen to delete more shows than normal in the third week of the month. While 18 series or movies leaving the streaming isn't nearly as bad as the end of any given month, it's still a lot.

Perhaps the biggest loss of the week is that the first eight seasons of Dexter are leaving. There have been two sequels to the series, Dexter: New Blood and Dexter: Original Sin, but neither of those is available on Netflix either.

The first three seasons of The Equalizer are going away, too. The Queen Latifah-led series has five seasons total, but there will be no more. The show was canceled after its fifth season, and the finale aired on May 4, 2025.

The well-received documentary on Fred Rogers, Won't You Be My Neighbor? is also saying goodbye. It has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 97 from critics. If you don't believe the professional reviewers, the general public has given it a 94.

American Sniper, a film about U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, which stars Bradley Cooper, is leaving just in time for the 4th of July, interestingly enough. The audience liked it a bit better than the critics, but this makes sense. If you are going to watch a film like this, you are likely already interested in the subject matter.

Thankfully, the fairly awful Father Figures, featuring Owen Wilson, Ed Helms, J.K. Simmons, and Glenn Close, wastes no time leaving after Father's Day. (If you are interested in the movie, two siblings find out their mom lied about who their dad was, and they go on a trip to find him, but find out more about their mom's past than they would like to know.)
