Netflix has been busy setting out its plans for 2025 of late. They've been announcing shows and new seasons that are coming up. And in some cases keeping quiet on others. It looks like exciting times ahead.

In one case, though, there’s also a reminder of what is likely to be a show that is heading in one direction, it’s going to be very emotional for many viewers. That show is Building The Band. It’s a new Netflix talent show due to hit our screens later this year.

The show will do as its title says and build a band by putting together a collection of individual hopefuls. They will audition as singers, but many other components of their talent and potential will be significant factors. The judges will look at their overall style, voice, and choreography skills to see how each might fit with the other singers…to build a superb band.

Liam Payne judging new Netflix show is both perfect casting and emotional

The judges will be led by Pussycat Doll and now star of the musical stage. She's been ripping it up as Norma Desmond in theatres in the latest version of Sunset Boulevard from the pen of Andrew Lloyd Webber. But she’ll bring her mentoring and judging talent, along with extensive experience, to this new show which is being hosted by AJ Mclean.

It's the judging part where the emotions will really kick in. That's the case for those auditioning as the chance to get into the band is laid before them. The judges themselves, though, are the real trigger for fans. Alongside Scherzinger on the panel, as guest judges are Kelly Rowland and Liam Payne.

Payne was always going to be a big draw to this new show. That’s even more so after his sudden death following a fall from an Argentine hotel balcony last October. That news left his massive fanbase shocked and devastated. They will be both delighted and sad to get a chance to see him in Building The Band.

Payne and Scherzinger bring a shared X Factor experience

Payne was a superb choice as a judge with his particular experience from auditioning for X Factor. He had two attempts as a solo singer, in 2008 and then again in 2010. It looked as if Payne was about to miss out on both occasions when Simon Cowell stepped in.

Cowell had an early Building The Band style moment as he decided to have Payne and four other contenders combine their relents as a boy band. With Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, and Niall Horan alongside Payne, One Direction was born. It’s also worth noting that alongside Cowell on that X Factor judging panel at the time was none other than Scherzinger.

That's a fabulous connection and experience for them both to have brought to this new show. It should make it a very interesting watch. But understandably it’ll be full-on emotion for many when Payne makes his appearances.
