For years, Netflix said no. The streamer did not want a third-party platform to have their content on it. This made sense, in theory, because that meant if you wanted to watch Netflix things, then you needed to use the streamer's services. But times change and having easily available access everywhere seems to be the way to go.
Netflix's reluctance to have its product on the Apple TV app was part of this. One who subscribed to Apple TV or had the app on their iPhone could not see original programming from Netflix. That is no longer the case. Some Apple TV 4K users are starting to be prompted to connect their Netflix accounts with Apple TV.
In other words, if you have a watchlist on Apple TV then many of you might be able to add series like Stranger Things to it. The Continue Watching section will also have Netflix programming in it, at least in a limited fashion. There are a few caveats currently, however.
Netflix slowly appears to be showing up on some Apple TV app accounts
One is that only US-based Apple TV users can see the Netflix content. This could (and should) change soon as both Apple and Netflix are global brands and it makes sense for anyone anywhere to be able to see what Netflix has to offer on an Apple TV app.
Another bit is that not all of Netflix's content is yet available on Apple TV. This could be because the IT departments of both streamers are working hard to aggregate all of the series and movies. That is the hope anyway. Or possibly, Netflix is only going to offer a little bit of what they have to see how many Apple TV app users bite.
To be sure, neither Netflix nor Apple have officially announced any of this. Still, it is obvious to those Apple TV app users who are being asked to link accounts. There is no fraud going on here. The move simply has not been made official. Yet.
