Netflix is adding 15 new movies and shows this week (Dec. 8, 2024)

While the list of new Netflix movies and shows may look small this week, it is jam-packed with new additions. You can check out a new holiday baking show, a new Angelina Jolie movie, a new drama, and a new action film. There is so much to watch that you might have trouble choosing.

First up is Angelina Jolie's latest move, Maria. The film hits Netflix on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2024. The film follows the life of opera singer Maria Callas in her final days. It's very hard for Angelina to not be amazing, so this is likely to be a must-watch.

One Hundred Years of Solitude part 1 is also headed to Netflix on Wednesday, Dec. 11. Based on the book of the same name by Gabriel García Márquez, the film will follow seven generations of the Buendia family through love, trauma, and death. Considering this is considered one of the best books to ever be written, the creators of this show have A LOT to live up to, and maybe that's why they are splitting it up into parts; so they can do it justice.

Looking for something to keep you on the edge of your seat? Carry-On is the movie for you. The movie stars Taron Egerton, Jason Bateman, Dean Morris, Sofia Carson, Danielle Deadwyler, and Logan Marshall-Green. It follows a traveler who is blackmailing a TSA agent into letting a package slip through security on Christmas Day. If you believe (rightly) that Die Hard is a Christmas movie, this is the film for you.
