We at Netflix Life hope your Valentine’s Day is already off to a great start, but as always, we know how to make this special day a whole lot better with some romance anime.

Whether you’re boo’d up with your partner or whether you’re spending this day with your pals and gals, a romance title is sure to fill the air with even more love, which is why we want to recommend a couple of romance anime on Netflix perfect for you and your loved ones.

Some of the titles on this list will make your heart flutter while some may gracefully rip your heart out. However, all of them emphasize the power of love in their own unique way.

Romance anime on Netflix

Without further ado, here are the romance anime you should be watching this Valentine’s Day.

Toradora!

An oldie but goodie! Toradora! should certainly be your go-to romance anime as this series is sure to remind you that you can find love in all places and in all personalities.

The anime journeys the life of Taiga, a yandere high schooler who, though intimidating, is actually super adorable as well as the life of Ryuuji, a gentle spirit who has been cursed with a stone-cold face. These two polar opposites are brought together by chance, but stay together through learning and accepting the flaws of the other.

Without a doubt, Toradora! is super cute, hilarious, and has a pretty happy ending, but if you want something with a tad more chaos, multiple banana peel gags, and the inclusion of one of the most wholesome couples in anime history, then the next title is perfect for you!

Ouran High School Host Club

Kiss, kiss, fall in love!

If your Valentine’s Day doesn’t include at least a soft binge watch of Ouran High School Host Club, we fear you may not be doing this holiday justice!

Ouran follows the life of Haruhi Fujioka who, despite having a less than fortunate upbringing, secures a scholarship to an extremely wealthy high school. It is here Haruhi gets wrapped up in this school’s elite Host Club and has to attend to woo the female body alongside the other six hosts. But unbeknownst to everyone, Haruhi is a girl, and this huge reveal causes many, especially the obnoxious yet adorable Tamaki Suoh, to revisit their preconceived notions.

All in all, the 2006 anime is a romance staple as it teaches its viewers all about how love doesn’t boil down to financial or social status and can bloom in individuals who have vastly different upbringings/appearances. With a heartwarming message, skipping this series today is certainly not recommended. However, if you do decide to check out a different title, we hope it’s this next one on our list!

Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai

Switching gears from your happy-go-lucky romance titles, we bring you Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai.

In this particular series, a boy named Sakuta Azusagawa comes across a girl named Mai Sakurajima who, for some strange reason, no one else can see. With Sakuta being the only one to see her, the two naturally grow closer together while trying to figure out how to undo this weird occurrence. Fortunately, the quick-witted teen solves the mystery, allowing the two to properly form a closer bond — or so he thought.

His persistent romantic gestures to make Mai his girlfriend often take a backseat as he has to deal with his other female friends and family who are going through major identity crises similar to Mai. However, because Sakuta is persistent, he’ll do whatever he has to do to make Mai his.

Although on the surface this looks like your typical romance, underneath is a riveting anime series all about growing pains, loss, grief, and everything in between. So, if Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai doesn’t make you share a few happy tears or two when you and your loved ones binge through it, then this fairly similar title is sure to do just that.

Your Lie in April

To those who have watched Your Lie in April, our deepest apologies for recommending this title. And for those who have yet to watch Your Lie in April… our deepest, deepest apologies for recommending this title.

We couldn’t go this Valentine’s Day without recommending this iconic 2015 series, as it beautifully enforces that we should properly cherish our loved ones with all our hearts. Because love, though powerful, is momentary in this life.

The heartbreaking message is emphasized through the series’ protagonists Kaori Miyazono and Kousei Arima, who find one another through their love of music. The two share many beautiful moments in their meeting, their wholesome friendship growing stronger with time. But when Kaori befalls a deadly sickness, these soulmates are harshly reminded that life, love, and joy, unfortunately, come with an expiration date. Even still, Kaori and Kousei continue to move forward, no matter how painful the future that lies ahead may be.

Truthfully, it’s an anime that’s going to change your life for good, so be sure to watch it quickly as the beloved title is sadly slated to leave Netflix by the end of this month.

Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop

If you might miss the last day to watch our previous recommendation, you’re certainly in luck because Your Lie in April’s director Kyohei Ishiguro also had a hand in our next romance anime title, Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop.

Summer love is the focus of this anime film as two socially-awkward teens’ lives change for the better shortly after they meet one another. When they’re together, it feels like fireworks and sounds like it, too. However, as with all fireworks, it burns bright and colorful only to sizzle soon after.

The two find ways to make the most of their summer before it’s too late and the ways in which they do this is sure to make your heart skip a beat.

And with that, comes the end of our anime recommendations for this Valentine’s Day! We hope that you come to love all of these romance anime as much as we do and especially hope that you find love, be it romantic or platonic, as powerful as these characters.
