We have good news to share with the Harlan Cobetrotters! There's a new Harlan Coben Netflix show coming this holiday season!
No, it's not Thanksgiving or Christmas, but Missing You premieres on the next-best holiday!
Missing You, which is based on Coben's novel of the same name, premieres on Netflix on New Year's Day (Jan. 1, 2025). On the first day of the new year, Netflix has the perfect mystery for you to watch to kickstart what's going to be the biggest year in the history of Netflix for new TV shows. (We're getting new seasons of Stranger Things, Wednesday, Squid Game, The Night Agent, You, Ginny and Georgia, and more!)
There's a clear pattern with Netflix's latest shows from Coben. For the second year in a row, Netflix is releasing a new Harlan Coben show on New Year's Day. As you may recall, Fool Me Once starring Michelle Keegan and Richard Armitage premiered on Jan. 1, 2024. Stay Close, another show based on the works of Coben, premiered on Dec. 31, 2021. Before that, The Stranger starring Richard Armitage was released on Jan. 30, 2020, so Netflix likes to roll out Coben's shows around this time of the year.
Fool Me Once was actually the most popular Netflix show of 2024 until Bridgerton season 3 part 2 premiere in June 2024. According to Netflix, the Harlan Coben series is even more popular than Stranger Things season 3! It ranks No. 8 on the Netflix Top 10 list, and it's clear Netflix has high hopes for Missing You, which shares the premiere date with Fool Me Once one year later
It's interesting, but I can't say I'm mad about it. I know what I'll be doing on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, and who I'll be spending it with (Harlan Coben and these great characters, of course!)
Speaking of Armitage, he's back in the Missing You cast along with Rosalind Eleazar, Ashley Walters, Jessica Plummer, Marc Warren, Sir Lenny Henry, James Nesbitt, Steve Pemberton, Matt Jay-Willis, Mary Malone, Lisa Faulkner, and Samantha Spiro.
We shared the synopsis for Missing You, via Netflix:
"Eleven years ago Detective Kat Donovan's fiancé Josh - the love of her life - disappeared and she's never heard from him since. Now, swiping profiles on a dating app, she suddenly sees his face and her world explodes all over again. Josh's reappearance will force her to dive back into the mystery surrounding her father’s murder and uncover long-buried secrets from her past."
That sounds exactly like the kind of show we all want to kick back with after the stress of the holiday, am I right?
We're still waiting for Netflix to release the Missing You trailer, but with the new series about six weeks away, we should get the first clip, teaser, or official trailer soon. At the latest, Netflix rolls out the trailer about three or four weeks away from the premiere, so we should see the trailer in the next few weeks.
Missing You will likely be a huge hit on Netflix! We'll share more news about the new series as we find out. Oh, and more good news! More Harlan Coben Netflix shows are in the works.
While you wait for Missing You to be released on Netflix, we highly recommend watching Fool Me Once, Safe, The Stranger, Stay Close, and more of the Harlan Coben Netflix shows right now!
