Michael Fassbender claims Netflix star should be next James Bond

Daniel Craig is not going to do it anymore. He no longer wants to play James Bond, and he has a fair point. The character is so iconic that one can be pigeonholed as simply a former Bond. Craig has been able to create a name for himself outside of the role, but only so far. What films he will be in are to be seen, but he will always be Bond.

When Craig was chosen to play Bond he made his first appearance in 2006's Casino Royale. Another actor up for the role when Craig got the gig was Michael Fassbender. Fassbender, though, told those involved in determining the actor who would play the role that Craig would be a better choice. Fassbender might have been correct, but Fassbender as Bond also sounds intriguing.

The Irish actor is unlikely to take over the job from Craig, but as Fassbender had a great idea that Craig would be good, his recommendation to next play Bond might also be a worthy choice. The actor believes Bridgerton's Regé-Jean Page should be a frontrunner for the character, according to CNN.

For obvious reasons, Page would be a different take on Bond, but Craig was a blonde playing Bond, and that seemed different as well. At least for about a minute into the film. After that, movie-goers realized how good the actor was going to be, and we were bought in for a several-movie arc. In fact, it could be argued that Craig was the best Bond ever.

Page has already shown he is debonaire enough to easily pull off a "shaken, not stirred" line if needed. There would be little doubt that he is a versatile enough actor to pull off the many faces a Bond must do. It is part action, part sexy thriller, and completely unique.

To be fair, while Fassbender likely does believe Page could do the role, he is also biased. He worked with Page during the filming of the recent theatrical release, Black Bag. Of course, the plot of the film revolves around an intelligence agent accused of betraying her country. In other words, it is a spy thriller, and while Page is not the lead, he might simply be rehearsing for his next gig as the new James Bond.
