Even with a television franchise as expansive and successful as that created and produced by Taylor Sheridan, there's still an opportunity for these shows to notch firsts. Being so, the first television series from Sheridan will be making its arrival on Netflix in the United States before summer begins, and you can already add it to your watch list so you don't forget.

Featured in the "New & Hot" section of the Netflix mobile app, the streamer announced that it has acquired the Paramount+ Western drama miniseries Lawmen: Bass Reeves for streaming. The series makes its arrival on Netflix in the US on Monday, June 1, 2026, according to the app, and you can set your reminder for its drop on its official page on the streaming service.

Lawmen: Bass Reeves being added to Netflix in June 2026 arrives with little fanfare, as the streamer didn't formally announce its impending drop just yet, though it's expected to be prominently featured on the June new releases list to be revealed in late May. Not to mention, Netflix's acquisition of a Paramount+ original for streaming leads us to wonder whether more could be coming, too.

In January 2026, Netflix revealed that in the United States and other territories, certain titles from Paramount would be added to the platform. That included shows like Mayor of Kingstown, The King of Queens, and Matlock, though none of these hits have made their way to Netflix in the US just yet. Now, Lawmen: Bass Reeves wasn't included on that list, but it's a great first arrival.

From creator Chad Feehan and executive producer Taylor Sheridan, Lawmen: Bass Reeves is based on the books Follow the Angels, Follow the Doves and Hell on the Border by Sidney Thompson and tells the story of the titular Bass Reeves. Played by Emmy Award and Golden Globe nominee David Oyelewo, Reeves was among the first African American Deputy US Marshals to gain power on the west of the Mississippi River and left his mark with his fearlessness.

Lawmen: Bass Reeves premiered on Paramount+ in November 2023 and concluded its run after eight episodes that December. While featured in the Sheridan universe of series hailing from Paramount, it's not connected to his Yellowstone franchise, though the miniseries was originally planned to have a connection to the prequel spinoff 1883. Despite its critical acclaim and success, a second season, which would have told the story of another lawman from the past, didn't come to fruition.

But perhaps its arrival on Netflix in June 2026 will help the series gain a second life and inspire Paramount+ to reconsider another season. However, that might not be in the cards since Sheridan's moving from Paramount to NBCUniversal when his television deal ends in 2028. But we can hope for more Sheridan series to slowly work their way to Netflix in the near future.

It's a curious pairing considering Netflix's deal to buy Paramount fell through, but it's a win for Netflix subscribers looking to binge-watch new, quality content. Hopefully, once Lawmen: Bass Reeves arrives and makes a splash in the Top 10, more Sheridan series will follow suit after the first makes the leap across streamers to Netflix. Stay tuned for more news and updates!
