There are few franchises in the world that command the kind of loyalty, wonder, and pure emotional devotion that Star Trek has cultivated for nearly six decades. This franchise is more than just a series of shows and movies. It’s a universe that has sparked imagination and inspired generations.
Whether you fell in love with the original crew’s adventurous spirit, Picard’s calm moral leadership, Sisko’s resilience, or Janeway’s unshakable determination, Star Trek has always offered stories that stay with you. And that’s why having some of the franchise on Netflix has been such a gift. It's made everything so easy and familiar and allowed you to go back and rewatch some of your favorites. But unfortunately, that convenience is about to end for fans.
In the new year, three beloved Star Trek movies will be leaving Netflix. This means longtime Trekkies and new viewers alike will have to find a new way to watch these iconic films. To make matters worse, there's no telling if they'll ever make a comeback.
January 1 will see the removal of 3 Star Trek movies from Netflix

Sadly, this is true. Not only did Netflix share this information in its January 2026 list of shows and movies coming and leaving its platform, but it has even posted removal notices on the title pages of each Star Trek film set to make their departure. So, everything's set in stone.
Which Star Trek movies are scheduled to leave Netflix, you ask? Those films would be Star Trek (2009), Star Trek Into Darkness (2013), and Star Trek Beyond (2016). Each is confirmed to be departing the streaming service on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026. Of course, this means the last day to stream these films on Netflix will be Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025.
January 1 might seem far away right now, but time will fly, and before you know it, the chance to watch these three amazing films will be gone. Don't let the opportunity slip by. Now that you know they’re leaving Netflix, it’s the perfect time to plan a final marathon and relive the adventures of the Starship Enterprise before they disappear from the platform.
But it's not all bad news. You will still be able to watch these movies on another streaming service. Star Trek, Star Trek Into Darkness, and Star Trek Beyond are currently streaming on Paramount+ as well, and will still be available on this platform after they leave Netflix.
While this is good news, it's just a bummer that those who use Netflix as their main streaming home will have to switch platforms and adjust their viewing habits to keep enjoying these beloved adventures. Perhaps Netflix will acquire the streaming rights to these films again in the future, but this is the current situation. Don't worry! We'll get back to you if there are any updates or changes.
