One of Netflix's most underrated teen shows is finally back. All six episodes of A Good Girl's Guide to Murder season 2 are now streaming on Netflix, and there might be an argument here that the second season is better than the first!
Season 2 is all about Pip searching for Jamie, one of her friends who goes missing just days before he's due to testify against Max Hastings in court. If you recall from the first season, Pip discovers that Max committed some serious crimes. He's accused of drugging and sexually assaulting women. One of them is Becca Bell, Andie Bell's younger sister. However, he doesn't get arrested.
In A Good Girl's Guide to Murder season 2, Max faces trial for the sexual assault allegations. This is the other big storyline that the second season focuses on. But does Max actually end up being found guilty in court, or does he manage to escape justice?
Below, we're about to enter spoiler territory to answer this very question. That said, this is your time to exit this article if you haven't watched A Good Girl's Guide to Murder season 2 in its entirety yet!

Does Max Hastings go to jail in A Good Girl's Guide to Murder season 2?
No, Max does not go to jail. Unfortunately, he does not get what he deserves at all. Despite it being true that he drugged and sexually assaulted both Becca and Nat Da Silva at the Calamity parties, the jury ultimately returns a not guilty verdict in A Good Girl's Guide to Murder season 2. Why? Well, there are several reasons.
First, there was no solid evidence that could conclusively place Max at the center of the crimes. Had Pip shared the phone recording she had of Max basically confessing to sexually assaulting Becca, the case could've taken a different turn. However, she was unable to because of other people involved.
What also didn't help was that none of the victims were able to say that they actually saw Max commit the act. The defense used that to their advantage, arguing that anyone at those Calamity parties could've been responsible.
Then, there's the issue of Jamie never showing up in court. Remember, he was the key eyewitness. According to Nat, Jamie had seen Max leave the room after he sexually assaulted her. However, Jamie goes missing just two days before he was due to take the stand and testify against Max in court. This weakened the prosecution’s case significantly.
Then, there's the final blow of Max stating in court that he knows who the real attacker is. He claimed that Sal, Ravi's dead brother who was initially accused of killing Andie, is the attacker. Although Sal's name was cleared of any wrongdoing, the allegation alone could have possibly made the jury pause and reconsider the entire case. In other words, the case just wasn't leaning in Pip's favor.
So, it makes sense why the jury ultimately came to the decision that they did. It's just unfortunate that someone who is clearly guilty was still able to avoid conviction.
