Who doesn't love a good mystery? Well, teen sleuth Pip Fitz-Amobi usually does. That was until the last case she solved ended with her closest friend at the center of public attention. In A Good Girl's Guide to Murder season 2, Pip is ready to put her mystery-solving days behind her when a friend of hers suddenly goes missing.

What's even more strange about the disappearance is that it happens just two days before the friend is supposed to testify against Max Hastings in court. Max is a young man accused of sexually assaulting two women. Now, Pip finds herself pulled right back into the world she swore she was done with.

After watching all six episodes of A Good Girl's Guide to Murder season 2 on Netflix, it's easy to notice how the season finale ends in a way that sets up a potential third season. While Netflix hasn't said anything about A Good Girl's Guide to Murder season 3 just yet, it's clear that the writers deliberately structured the finale with continuation in mind rather than wrapping everything up in a neat, final bow

In this article, we've given a breakdown of how the season 2 finale comes to a close, as well as shared what could possibly come next for Pip if there is to be A Good Girl's Guide to Murder season 3!

How does A Good Girl's Guide to Murder season 2 end on Netflix?

A Good Girl's Guide to Murder season 2 is primarily about Pip searching for her friend Jamie. After learning that Jamie had been in contact with a woman named Layla on a dating app, Pip and her friends conclude that finding Layla would likely lead them to Jamie. But who exactly is Layla? Well, we find out in the season 2 finale that Layla is actually Charlie. If you recall from earlier in the season, Charlie was introduced as Pip's new neighbor.

Wait, but isn't Charlie a man? Yes! He pretended to be Layla to lure people into trusting him online, but there was a motive behind doing so. Charlie is actually the twin brother of a young girl who was murdered many years ago by a child serial killer named Scott Brunswick.

Scott would have his young son, Child, lure in victims before he kidnapped and ultimately killed them. He was eventually caught and sentenced to life in prison, though he never served the full term after being murdered by a fellow inmate. Meanwhile, Child received a five-year custodial sentence. After his release at 18, he entered witness protection, where he was given a new identity and a completely fresh start.

Child's real name was never revealed to the public, but Charlie was determined to find out his whereabouts and get his revenge for Child's involvement in his sister's death. That's why throughout the season, Pip learns that Layla/Charlie had been in contact with several different men. Charlie was looking for Child, and he thought Jamie could've been him at first. However, he finds out he isn't and then decides to use him to help track down the real Child. Jamie decided to help out because he had fallen for Layla, unaware that she wasn't real.

In the end, Pip discovers Layla and Child's true identities during a showdown between Charlie and Stanley in a big mansion. Remember, Stanley is the security guard that Pip first encounters at the golf club. Stanley reveals to Pip that he is Child Brunswick and that he's been holding Jamie captive until they found Layla. Charlie then enters the room and reveals that he's Layla and his reason for pretending to be someone else.

The confrontation ultimately ends with Charlie fatally shooting Stanley multiple times before setting the mansion on fire and running away. Pip then tries to keep Stanley up as she pulls him out of the burning building. However, her attempts prove to be in vain as Stanley succumbs to his injuries. Jamie is finally rescued, and the season 2 finale then jumps ahead two weeks. The town has a funeral for Stanley, and we learn that Charlie and his wife, Flora, who helped him with his devious plan, are still on the run.

At the very end of the last episode, Pip returns to her room and finds several of her notes on the floor and her laptop slightly open. She opens the laptop completely and finds that someone has typed the same words over and over. It reads, "Who will look for you when you're the one who disappears?" This is where the season 2 finale comes to a close. Uh oh! It looks like someone has snuck into Pip's room to send a chilling warning.

Could it be Charlie or Max? Charlie is on the run, and Max is no longer having to deal with sexual assault charges. Or, perhaps it's someone entirely different. Charlie doesn't have any personal vendetta against Pip, so he's probably not the one behind the message. However, Max has far more reason to want Pip scared and intimidated.

If there were to be A Good Girl's Guide to Murder season 3, it would likely explore who is now targeting Pip. We'd probably see her back in investigative mode. It would also likely cover the events from Holly Jackson's third book in her A Good Girl's Guide to Murder book series, As Good as Dead. The first two seasons followed books 1 and 2, so it would only make sense for the adaptation to continue that pattern.

But first, we have to get that official season 3 renewal before anything can happen. That said, make sure to tell everyone you know about A Good Girl's Guide to Murder season 2. The more people who stream the new installment on Netflix, the better the chance of the show being renewed.
