From high-stakes thrillers to chaotic comedies and disaster-horror spectacles, Netflix’s April lineup offers something for everyone. Below, we shared three must-watch movies you won’t want to miss this month. All you need to do is make sure to add them to your watchlist, and you're all set!

Thrash
Phoebe Dynevor as Lisa in Thrash | Netflix

Thrash

  • Release date: April 10, 2026
  • Director and writer: Tommy Wirkola

Earlier in the month, Netflix releases Thrash, a disaster-horror film that combines catastrophic weather with the terror of apex predators. The movie follows a coastal town ravaged by a Category 5 hurricane, with the storm surge bringing not just flooding and destruction, but hungry sharks into the streets, homes, and schools.

At the center of the film is Lisa Fields, played by Phoebe Dynevor, a pregnant woman fighting to survive while protecting her unborn child. Alongside her, Whitney Peak’s agoraphobic character Dakota and Djimon Hounsou’s marine researcher Dale Edwards provide critical support as the town faces seemingly insurmountable danger.

If you love extreme disaster movies or shark-filled thrillers, Thrash will be right up your alley. Just be ready for an adrenaline-fueled ride that keeps your heart racing from start to finish!

Roommates
(L to R) Jaya Harper as Olivia, Bella Murphy as Amber, Sadie Sandler as Devon, and Chloe East as Celeste in Roommates | Scott Yamano/Netflix

Roommates

  • Release date: April 17, 2026
  • Director: Chandler Levack
  • Writers: Jimmy Fowlie and Ceara O'Sullivan

After the intensity of Thrash, Netflix adds a lighter option to its platform with Roommates just a week later. It's a coming‑of‑age comedy film that explores the hilariously awkward reality of life with someone you barely know.

The story centers on two college freshmen, Devon (played by Sadie Sandler) and Celeste (played by Chloe East), who are paired as roommates at the start of their first semester. What begins as a hopeful attempt at friendship quickly descends into chaos as their very different personalities clash in the confined world of a shared dorm room.

The film captures the everyday absurdities of dorm life. While the situations are over-the-top, the humor is grounded in relatable experiences that anyone who has shared a living space can recognize. Real-life college students will definitely relate to the struggles and awkward moments Devon and Celeste face, which makes Roommates the perfect pick for a lighthearted, laugh-out-loud break in your Netflix binge schedule.

Apex
(L-R) Taron Egerton as Ben and Charlize Theron as Sasha in Apex | Kane Skennar/Netflix

Apex

  • Release date: April 24, 2026
  • Director: Baltasar Kormákur
  • Writer: Jeremy Robbins

Wrapping up the list is Apex, a survival thriller film starring Charlize Theron alongside Taron Egerton and Eric Bana. The film follows Sasha, a woman seeking solitude in the remote wilderness of Australia to heal from personal loss. What starts as a quest for peace quickly turns into a fight for survival when she becomes the target of a relentless hunter, played by Egerton.

As Sasha navigates treacherous cliffs, raging rivers, and unforgiving terrain, every step becomes a test of endurance and wits. Nature itself emerges as an adversary, amplifying the tension alongside the human threat.

Known for her powerful action roles in films like Mad Max: Fury Road, Atomic Blonde, and The Old Guard, Theron is the perfect fit for Sasha. She brings both strength and vulnerability to a character facing extreme danger. It's also interesting to see Egerton play the bad guy, especially after his heroic role in Netflix's Carry-On.

However, it's unknown what part Bana’s character will play in the deadly chase. Perhaps he plays some sort of cop, ranger, or local authority figure who could either help Sasha or complicate her fight for survival. We can't wait to find out when Apex drops on April 24.
