In fact, Netflix's Top 10 movie list is currently dominated by a romantic drama that everyone’s watching. It has been ranking on the list for a while now, and it doesn't look like it'll be dropping off anytime soon. Maybe you've heard about it from a friend or family member who couldn’t stop talking about how emotional and inspiring it is. The movie we’re referring to is none other than Ruth & Boaz, a heartfelt Tyler Perry film that’s taking Netflix by storm.
Ruth & Boaz is the one Netflix movie you're not watching, and you should

As of Oct. 6, Ruth & Boaz is sitting at the No. 5 spot on the list. The film was released on Netflix on Sept. 26, so it's been a little over a week since its debut. In that short time, Ruth & Boaz has quickly captured viewers’ attention, with many praising its story and strong performances. It's a faith-based film that delivers a modern-day retelling of one of the most beloved and enduring love stories from the Bible.
The story follows Ruth Moably, a talented singer from Atlanta, who leaves her busy life behind to move to rural Tennessee to care for a recently widowed elderly woman. Along the way, she discovers unexpected love and a newfound sense of family. Perry and DeVon Franklin produced Ruth & Boaz. Additionally, Alanna Brown directed the film from a screenplay co-written by Michael Elliot and Cory Tynan.
Serayah, who is most likely to be recognized from her previous role as Tiana on Empire, takes on the role of Ruth. She is joined in the cast by Harlem's Tyler Lepley, who portrays Boaz, Ruth's love interest. Boaz is a charming owner of a vineyard and winery. Once his and Ruth's paths cross, a deep connection forms and both of their lives are forever changed. In addition, Emmy nominee Phylicia Rashad plays the role of Naomi, the widowed elderly woman who becomes like a surrogate mom to Ruth.
Other cast members include Walnette Santiago, Nijah Brenea, James Lee Thomas, Lecrae Moore, Babyface, Jermaine Dupri, and Yung Joc.
If you end up really enjoying Ruth & Boaz after watching it on Netflix, we have good news to share. Although there will most likely not be a sequel, you can expect more faith-based movies from Perry and Franklin to be released in the future.
This is because the talented pair have a multi-year creative partnership with Netflix, where they will produce a slate of faith-based films. In other words, Ruth & Boaz was just the first with many more to come. Don't worry! We'll keep you constantly informed about what's next to be released from these two creatives.
