A new season of Emily in Paris has arrived and while many of our favorite characters are back for the new season, there are a few familiar faces who are not part of season 5.
The most notable exit from the show comes with the exit of Camille Razat after four seasons of playing Emily’s on-again, off-again friend Camille. After playing a central role in the first four seasons of Netflix’s hit series, Razat made the decision not to return for season 5 leading to her character’s on-screen exit.
“After an incredible journey, I’ve made the decision to step away from Emily in Paris,” Razat revealed via Instagram, announcing her exit from the show on Wednesday, April 23, 2025. “This character has meant a lot to me, and I feel that her storyline has naturally come to an end. It felt like the right moment to explore new horizons.”
Camille’s storyline had indeed come to a natural close with season 4 ending with Camille leaving Paris to start fresh after it became clear her relationship with Gabriel was truly over. Camille’s exit from the show occurs off-screen with no appearance from Camille in season 5, and no mention of her character at all in the new season.
Fittingly, season 5 also is without Melia Kreiling’s character Sofia, who we met in season 3. We first meet Sofia as an artist who has worked with Camille over the years, before the pair’s relationship evolved into a brief romantic relationship. The pair broke up in season 4, and with Camille’s exit, Sofia has also faded into the background with no appearance from the character in season 5.

Emily in Paris season 5 writes out Benoit and Etienne
Speaking of fading into the background, there are two other notable exits from the show in season 5. Surprisingly, Kevin Dias and Jin Xuan Mao both fail to appear in a single episode of Emily in Paris season 5 with no mention or appearance of either Benoit or Etienne.
We first met Benoit and Etienne in the fourth episode of season 2, when the duo invited Mindy to join their band after hearing her sing at a French cabaret club. The duo became central to Mindy’s storyline, with Mindy and Benoit eventually becoming romantically involved.
In season 4, Mindy, Benoit, and Etienne were accepted into the Eurovision Song Contest and spent the season chasing their dream of competing at Eurovision. To raise funds for their performance, Mindy took on a new singing gig at La Trompette Bleue, a jazz club which required her to perform topless. This gig caused tension between Mindy and Nico, whose relationship was tested due to his jealousy over Mindy’s continued working relationship with her ex, Benoit.
As the season ended, the group’s dreams were dashed when Nico used their Eurovision entry song in a campaign ad for his company, leading to their disqualification from the competition. While the fallout of Nico’s actions is explored in season 5, we surprisingly do not see Mindy performing with her former bandmates or even see them mentioned in the new season. Instead, she chases some solo opportunities to further her career with Benoit and Etienne left behind in season 4.
