It's just about time to pack our bags and book our flights to Paris and Rome for the winter to catch up with our girl Emily Cooper for her latest European misadventures. Netflix finally unveiled the full official Emily in Paris season 5 trailer weeks ahead of the season's premiere on Dec. 18, and there are looks of twists and triangles still left to be untangled in the new episodes.
Since the very first season, Emily has found herself wrapped up in some sort of love triangle, which have only gotten more complicated as the series went on. This time around, however, Emily appears to be in a love triangle between two cities. While she's working in Rome as the head of the new Agence Grateau office, she still feels pulled to her unfinished business in her first ex-pat home.
She feels left out being in Rome without her friends, even though she's happily in a relationship with Marcello. Speaking of love triangles, Gabriel's still in the picture, and while he realized he wanted her back in the season 4 finale, he doesn't seem to be aggressively vying for her heart. But there's another potential pairing that's teased in the season 5 trailer that has our heads spinning.

Emily in Paris season 5 trailer hints at Mindy and Alfie romance
Yes, don't adjust your screens. You saw that correctly! In a blink and you'll miss it kind of moment toward the end of the trailer, Mindy and Alfie appear to be getting closer than we have ever seen them before. Emily's best friend and ex-boyfriend hold each other as they dance... and nearly kiss. What?! We never could have imagined that Mindy and Alfie could ever possibly get together.
Maybe Mindy really has moved on from Nicolas after their breakup, but Paul Forman (Ashley Park's real-life boyfriend) has been confirmed to return for season 5 and makes a brief appearance in the trailer. Clearly, their story isn't over quite yet. This would definitely mark Mindy's messiest love triangle in the series. She and Emily have never been in the position of dating the same man. Who knows how that will test their friendship.

When Lucien Laviscount was revealed be returning to Emily in Paris season 5 as a series regular, the news was particularly surprising. He and Emily got closure last season following their dramatic breakup, and Alfie even moved on with a new girlfriend (that we didn't meet). Apparently, we now know what's in the cards for Alfie in season 5, and it's a potential romance with Mindy.
The biggest takeaway from the trailer has to be Emily being faced with the decision to keep building a life with Marcello and her new job in Rome or return to the life that she already built in Paris. Based on what happens in the season, that might not even be her decision to make! But one thing's for sure: She will continue to try her best and make mistakes along the way.
Emily in Paris season 5 premieres Thursday, Dec. 18 on Netflix.
