Heading into the final season of Stranger Things, there are a lot of questions on the minds of fans. Fans are eager to see how the Duffer Brothers are going to wrap the series in its final eight episodes, and there are countless theories out there about how the show will end.
There are also just as many fans out there sweating it out and fearing the worst for their favorite characters. It’s an understandable fear for the fans to have as the final season raises the stakes to the highest they’ve been, and there is a fear that at least a few characters won’t survive the season.
There are many beloved characters fans are worried about, but there’s no denying that the character whose fate has fans most concerned about is Steve Harrington. Steve has emerged as one of the most beloved characters in the show, and fans haven’t been able to shake the feeling that his fan-favorite status could result in his death in the final season. This fear, of course, stems from the show’s history of killing off fan-favorite characters.
With Part 1 now streaming, there are four episodes for fans to enjoy and we now know the answer to whether Steve dies within the first batch of episodes.

Steve does not die in Stranger Things 5 volume 1
Let me just get this out of the way, Steve does not die in the first volume of Stranger Things 5. You can enjoy the first four episodes of the season without peeping through covered eyes out of fear that Steve will perish, as Steve is still alive and well by the end of the fourth episode of season 5.
Thanksgiving will not be ruined this year, and the Duffer Brothers have given Steve fans another thing to be thankful for on the holiday! Our favorite mama bear has made it out of the first four episodes unscathed, and honestly, Steve doesn’t even have any major fake-out or dangerous moments in the first batch of episodes this season.
Given how many times Steve has flirted with death over the years, we expected that he’d end up in at least one life or death situation in the first part of the season. Thankfully, Steve gets a bit of a reprieve as season 5 begins and fans can breathe a sigh of relief, at least for now.
We of course have four more episodes coming our way and we expect the final episodes are about to crank up the action even more. Without getting into spoilers, let’s just say that episode 4 paves the way for what is certain to be an epic second batch of episodes as the show races towards the finish line.
There is still a chance that Steve or other popular characters could die in the second half of the season, resulting in a Blue Christmas or a somber note for the final hours of 2025. However, fans can at least enjoy their Thanksgiving holiday knowing that Steve is alive and well after the first part of the season!
