The cozy Netflix drama topping charts right now is made for Virgin River fans

While Squid Game season 3 is breaking Netflix records all over the place, there's a new top show on the Netflix Top 10, and it's the perfect show for Virgin River fans and those waiting to watch Virgin River season 7 on Netflix!

Earlier this week, Sullivan's Crossing, the CTV and CW series, officially became the No. 1 show in the United States and bumped Squid Game season 3 to the No. 2 spot on the list for the first time since the season premiered on June 27.

The first two seasons of Sullivan's Crossing, which stars Chad Michael Murray, Morgan Kohan, Scott Patterson, Tom Jackson, and Andrea Menard, were just added to Netflix in July 2025. Given the popularity of other romantic dramas like Virgin River, Sweet Magnolias, and more on Netflix, it makes a lot of sense why Sullivan's Crossing is a big hit with Netflix subscribers.

The series tells the story of Maggie Sullivan, a surgeon who returns home to a small town in Canada after her career implodes. At home, a lot of things are different, but a lot of things are still the same.

Sullivan's Crossing is also based on a book series of the same name by Robyn Carr. You know the other Netflix series based on a book series by Robyn Carr? Well, that'd be Virgin River!

I'm telling you, if you're a fan of Mel and Jack (Alexandra Breckenridge and Martin Henderson), you're going to love Maggie and Cal in Sullivan's Crossing!

You can watch the first two seasons of Sullivan's Crossing on Netflix right now. It looks like Sullivan's Crossing season 3 is coming to Netflix soon, as well! It's been reported that the new season will arrive on Netflix on Aug. 11, but that hasn't been confirmed by Netflix just yet.

As for Virgin River season 7, there's a little bit of confusion about what's next. We thought that Netflix confirmed Virgin River season 7 was coming in 2026 by leaving it off a list of the shows coming back in 2025, but production on season 7 wrapped recently. Breckenridge recently revealed that she didn't know when the new season was coming out, and it seemed like she was speculating that a 2025 release was still in play. That would be ideal for fans of the series.

If that happens, Virgin River season 7 would probably be released in November or December 2025 at the very earliest. And, that's if Netflix decides not to push it back to 2026, of course.

The other good news about Virgin River is that Netflix just renewed the series for season 8. That's right; Virgin River season 8 is officially in the works. The renewal makes Virgin River the longest-running scripted Netflix series of all time! We'll share more about the new season soon.
