Top five most watched movies on Netflix week ending March 9
5 - Sicario
Anyone for a modern-day Western? Sicario delivers that with a crime drama and plenty of action scenes. Josh Brolin and Emily Blunt take the leads as CIA and FBI characters trying to close down a Mexican drug cartel. Benicio del Toro supports as the third main character. This 2015 movie has just arrived on Netflix and is well worth watching.
4 - Venom: The Last Dance
Still strong in terms of viewings, this Tom Hardy led superhero movie is doing well on Netflix in its first two weeks there. That follows big box office success late last year. It’s the last of three movies featuring the Marvel comics character played by Hardy. The storyline may be a bit thin, but great action scenes and visual effects give it an edge.
3 - Chaos: The Manson Murders
At just over an hour and a half long, this new Netflix documentary movie is interesting but perhaps needs more depth. The whole Charles Manson scenario from 1969 is incredibly complex. This movie starts to explore the conspiracies, mind control, and the murders. It casts some doubts on the original story and encourages viewers to consider other possibilities, but that's a tough ask in such a short space of time.
2 - Despicable Me 4
The last of the Minions movies is in the top five as the others have slipped further down. Released last year, it only arrived on Netflix at the end of February and still has a new charm for viewers. If you like the yellow characters or want to see more of Gru and the family, then this is your chance.
1 - Plankton: The Movie
The top spot goes to some family fun in a brand new release, which dropped on Netflix earlier this month. Plankton: The Movie is the second in a series of SpongeBob SquarePants spin-offs. The usual characters appear as Plankton seeks world domination before being waylaid when his wife Karen takes charge.

5 - American Murder: Gabby Petito
Down to the number five spot, but that’s after three weeks in the top viewed shows list. True crime documentaries are obviously very popular, with this series looking at the tragic tale of video blogger Gabby Petito. She and her fiance Brian set off on a trip across the US in a camper van. Interviews with family and others explain what happened in the lead-up to Petito’s murder.
4 - Halo
A chance to revisit Halo after Paramount Plus canceled the show and dropped plans for a third series. Netflix has just added this first series of the video game adaptation, and there is clearly a demand for it. Is it enough to encourage a third season to be made after all? There could be a decision to take if the viewing figures remain strong enough to make a case for it.
3 - Toxic Town
Jodie Whittaker leads a strong cast in this drama based on a true story. It leads to women in a small town coming together to take the local authority to court. It gets emotional as they believe a spate of birth defects is due to negligence when the old steel works land was being cleared and reclaimed for future use.
2 - Zero Day
Former US President George Mullen, played by Robert De Niro, has to investigate a cyber attack. This new series is in its third week in the top five. If you like those action thrillers where the world is in danger and sees saving from terrorists, then this is ideal for you.
1 - Running Point
This Kate Hudson comedy has been so popular it’s up to the top spot for most views last week. She plays Isla Gordon, who takes charge at the Los Angeles Waves when her brother hands her the job. She now heads one of the biggest basketball franchises around and has a lot to prove. It’s getting rave reviews and could be the new Ted Lasso.
