We have some good news to share about Bridgerton season 5, thanks to star Luke Thompson.
During an appearance on ITV's This Morning with Kiera Knightley, Thompson was asked about Bridgerton season 5, and he revealed that he and the rest of the cast have just wrapped production on the fifth season of the Netflix original series.
"So, yes, well, they've passed on, so now it will be about Francesca and Michaela," Thompson said. "But obviously, Benedict is still around, so we just completed that now. And, yeah, it's gone well."
Netflix has not revealed that Bridgerton season 5 has officially wrapped yet, but the rumors have been swirling online for a few weeks. Some sleuths saw crew members bidding farewell after finishing work on the new season. What's on Netflix reported Bridgerton season 5 was aiming to wrap by Oct. 19, 2026. We should hear from Netflix in the very near future about production on season 5 wrapping.
This is, of course, very good news for fans of Bridgerton. It's only been about eight months since the fourth season finished in February 2026. Production on Bridgerton season 5 began in March 2026, shortly after the fourth season ended. Production wrapping now and not spilling over into 2027 is the best news fans of the series could have hoped for.
As mentioned, Bridgerton season 5 moves beyond the story of Benedict and Sophie (Yerin Ha). This season will focus on Francesca Bridgerton (Hannah Dodd) and Michaela Stirling (Masali Baduza).

We might not be waiting that long until Bridgerton season 5 premieres
Bridgerton fans are used to huge waits between seasons. We had a two-year break between the first two seasons and another two-year break before season 3 premiered. Thankfully, the wait wasn't as long for season 4, but it was still more than 18 months.
If all goes well with post-production and Netflix wants to release Bridgerton season 5 sooner rather than later, we might have another short-ish wait on our hands for Bridgerton season 5.
Looking at the calendar and what Netflix has planned, it's unrealistic to think that Bridgerton season 5 will premiere in January or February. Personally, March is probably too soon to expect the series, given production just wrapped. Netflix will take at least five or six months for post-production and promotions.
The earliest we could expect to see Bridgerton season 5 will be sometime in April-July 2027. That would put Bridgerton season 5's gap right around 14-18 months between seasons. If we have an April or May premiere, it's going to be the shortest gap between seasons of the series in the show's history. If it's June or July, it's right around the shortest wait for a season of Bridgerton so far. That doesn't sound so bad, does it?
The other good news is that Netflix just ordered another new Bridgerton series, a spinoff about Young Violet!
We'll share more updates about Bridgerton season 5 as we find out! And definitely stay tuned for more news about the Young Violet series, as well!
