If you haven't seen the animated Netflix series Big Mouth yet, now is a good time to start. The show will be coming to an end soon, so if you want to catch the final episodes as soon as they are dropped and clearly be caught up, watch now. We promise you will be entertained.
The show was created by real-life friends Nick Kroll and Andrew Goldberg. It is a look at how being a teenager and going through puberty can really stink, but having friends one can count on makes everything in life better. If that sounds overly fluffy, so be it. The show isn't, but it also pulls back from being depressing.
The actors who have been involved in the series have been a talented bunch. The mainstays have been Kroll, of course, as well as Fred Armisen, Ayo Edebiri (The Bear), Jessi Klein, Jason Mantzoukas, Jordan Peele, Andrew Rannells, and Maya Rudolph. If that group of names makes you chuckle before you even watch the series, just wait until you read who else will lend their talents in Season 8.
Big Mouth Season 8 release date and cast
In the final season, according to Deadline, the core of the show, the Bridgeton teens, will face some new challenges about being a teenager. This includes learning to drive, drug use (or staying away from them), cancel culture, learning to deal with growing up, and fear of the future. Many of the characters are dealing with personal crises as the end of high school nears.
A new creature named Compassion, voiced by Holly Hunter, appears to help show the characters the way forward. In other words, while that part of their lives is ending, the ending is not the final act of their lives. There is much more to come.
Ultimately, this show is about friends helping get other friends through personal trials. There is no overriding meanness to the series.
The final season of Big Mouth will drop on May 23 on Netflix. All previous series are currently available for streaming.
