Big Mistakes season 2 cast update confirms SPOILER's bigger role

Following the exciting news about Big Mistakes season 2 being renewed at Netflix, the Dan Levy comedy series just earned another update that fans will be thrilled to hear. There's still a lot of news and updates yet to be shared about the in-the-works follow-up season, and a decent wait until the new episodes arrive on our watch list, but we now have our first season 2 detail.

Big Mistakes, which made its premiere on Netflix in April 2026, maintains a rather small cast led by Levy and Taylor Ortega as siblings Nicky and Morgan. Laurie Metcalf stars their mother Linda, Abby Quinn is their sister Natalie, Jack Innanen plays Morgan's boyfriend Max, and Boran Kuzum plays Nicky and Morgan's worst nightmare Yusuf. But the biggest villain of the first season will be back as a series regular.

Elizabeth Perkins added to Big Mistakes season 2 main cast

The Big Mistakes season 1 finale revealed that Annette, played by Elizabeth Perkins, was pulling the crime boss strings behind-the-scenes the entire time. As we might have suspected by the twist, Perkins will have a much bigger role in the second season as Deadline reports that the actress has been promoted to a series regular for season 2 as Annette. That's bad news for Nicky and Morgan!

For all intents and purposes, we didn't see the season 1 ending coming. The reveal that Annette was running the scheme the entire time and knew that Nicky and Morgan were on the hook was as much as a surprise to most viewers as it was to Nicky and Morgan. Maybe some viewers saw it coming, but who could have expected Max's mom to be an ominious crime boss?

While Perkins' addition to the main cast was formally announced, other possible additions or subtractions to the Big Mistakes season 2 cast could be coming but haven't been shared just yet. Depending on what direction the story takes, Kuzum's role as Yusuf could be decreased unless he remains an important part of Annette's operation.

Big Mistakes could also have the potential to introduce lots of new cast members to the recurring cast. In case you forgot, the first season featured a bloody massacre that wiped out a few of the bigger recurring characters in the show. There's probably a decent amount of Annette's team that we have yet to meet, and that includes any new recruits she has added along with Nicky and Morgan.

Since we already have a major casting update, the work on Big Mistakes season 2 appears to be moving full steam ahead in preparing for filming to begin later this summer. According to a report from What's on Netflix, the second season starts production in New Jersey in August 2026 with a wrap date expected sometime in November. That means filming wraps before the end of the year.

Don't get too excited about the possibility that Big Mistakes could return again in 2026 with new episodes this year. The second season will premiere sometime in 2027, likely a bit later than April but sometime in the summer at the earliest. While we wait for more details, it's time to get excited for the wild series to be back with a wilder season and make predictions on what happens next!
