22. Mike Birbiglia: What I Should Have Said Was Nothing: Tales From My Secret Public Journal

This was Mike Birbiglia’s second comedy special as the follow-up to the 2006 special Two Drink Mike as Birbiglia recounts some of his entries from his diary. In the time since this special was recorded, Birbiglia has grown into one of the best performers around and has carved out a nice acting career for himself.

Birbiglia recently starred in the third season of Orange is the New Black, which is in the top 10 of our list of the 50 greatest TV dramas on Netflix and was in Trainwreck, Hot Pursuit, The Fault in our Stars, Annie and Digging for Fire.

Watching this special over again takes me back to when Birbiglia was still developing his delivery and pace, which some may call awkward or quirky, but I just call it funny and I think you will too as he tells stories from his own life that most of us can relate to and he does it all without going blue.
