As if any of us can think about anything other than Stranger Things right now, Netflix keeps the new releases moving with another week full of fresh titles. Now that Thanksgiving has passed, for most of us, it's officially time to deck the halls, and Netflix's latest original Christmas romantic comedy couldn't be more fitting for getting into the holiday spirit.
On top of a new Christmas movie, Netflix also debuts two other original movies, including the long-awaited sequel to a chilling fan-favorite and a drama hoping to vie for Oscar gold. Additionally, the week also brings new episodes of a real estate reality series and the premiere of an exciting Western drama series that will have us hooked. Take a closer look at the week's new releases below!
Troll 2
It's been three years since the Norwegian monster movie Troll made its premiere on Netflix, but it's finally time to return to this larger than life world for the sequel. Because of the first movie's success, Netflix moved forward with a sequel. This time around in Troll 2, the team reunites to take on a new troll. Nora, Andreas, and Captain Kris enlist the help of another troll to stop the massive creature from demolishing Norway. Troll 2 drops on Dec. 1, which is the perfect time for a double feature!
My Secret Santa
Ready to add a little more romance to your holiday? Netflix's latest new original Christmas romantic comedy My Secret Santa premieres on Dec. 3 and features Virgin River star Alexandra Breckenridge as we have never seen her before. The actress plays a single mother who scores a job as Santa Claus at a ski resort, but her disguise turns tricky when she starts to fall for the manager. Also starring New Amsterdam's Ryan Eggold, this one looks like the can't-miss winner of the season!
The Abandons
If you're looking to add some action to your watch list after devouring all four episodes of Stranger Things 5 part 1, here's your next best bet. There aren't any supernatural beings or alternate worlds, but Netflix's Western drama The Abandons will still have you on the edge of your seat. The series comes from Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter and stars Lena Headey and Gillian Anderson as dueling matriarchs in the Old West. Don't miss a second when the season drops on Dec. 4.
Jay Kelly
The words "Oscar buzz" and George Clooney are rarely separated, and that's the case with the Academy Award winner's latest movie Jay Kelly. The Netflix original movie begins streaming on Dec. 5 following its limited theatrical release next month. In the film written and directed by Noah Baumbach, and co-written by Emily Mortimer, Clooney stars as the titular movie who reflects on his life and career along with his manager (Adam Sandler). You can't miss this movie!
Owning Manhattan season 2
Last but not least, Netflix also offers an unscripted escape to decompress with over the weekend. Owning Manhattan returns for its second season as real estate broker Ryan Serhant continues to look to take over New York City along with the help of his team. The new season promises rivalries, intense pressure, and even more of the biggest listings Manhattan has to offer. See what Serhant has up his sleeve this season when the new episodes arrive on Dec. 5.
