If you couldn’t get enough of the Cenobites from the first two films in the franchise, Hellraiser 3 gives you an even further look into the world of Pinhead. We find out Pinhead was formerly a World War I British Army officer named Elliot Spencer.

The third film watches Pinhead’s human identity Spencer caught in limbo, a sort of alternate supernatural world, while Spencer’s manifestation, Pinhead, and the infamous puzzle box, are trapped in what is known as the Pillar of Souls.

Hellraiser 3 marks the first time a film in the franchise was shot outside of the U.K. No matter how negatively the film was received after release, nothing can take away from the classic and horrifying imagery that Clive Barker delivers once again. Pinhead’s human and original version ends up sending his darker side back to Hell for good in a very interesting ending.
