2. Pulp Fiction

Release Year: 1994

Written and Directed by Quentin Tarantino

Starring John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson, Uma Thurman, Bruce Willis

Who doesn’t love Pulp Fiction?

Pulp Fiction is the intertwining stories of two hired guns, Vince (John Travolta) and Jules (Samuel L. Jackson), boxer Butch Coolidge (Bruce Willis), two small-time criminals “Honey Bunny” (Amanda Plummer) and “Pumpkin” (Tim Roth), and Mia Wallace (Uma Thurman), the wife of a mob boss.

The story is told out of chronological order, so it’s hard to follow at times. Overall, the film comes together perfectly! By the end, you wouldn’t want it presented any other way.

One of the main reasons I love Pulp Fiction is because of the great cast. Some of these movies have great actors in the cast, but the characters aren’t deep enough to really get a true sense of how good the actors are. Tarantino always gets the best out of his cast, and that’s the main reason most of these actors want to work with him.

At the 1995 Academy Awards, Pulp Fiction was nominated for seven Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Screenplay, Best Actor in a Leading Role (Travolta), Best Actor/Actress in a Supporting Role (Jackson and Thurman), and Best Directors. Unfortunately, and rather unfairly, Pulp Fiction only won in one of those categories, Best Screenplay.

In a different year, Pulp Fiction could have swept all those categories or at least won multiple Oscars.

Currently, Pulp Fiction holds the top spot in our ranking of the 50 Best Movies on Netflix
