‘Avicii: I’m Tim’ tells the fantastic story behind the scenes

The documentary follows late Swedish DJ of his battles and successes.

Who was Avicii? Who was Tim? He was both.

Avicii was born Tim Bergling, who grew up in Stockholm with a love of music and the arts. The documentary Avicii: I'm Tim takes an up-close look behind the scenes of who the real DJ was with his brilliant music mind.

Avicii: I’m Tim tells the story behind his music career including the surrounding cast that helped him shape his career. From the small venues to the large concerts, Avicii grew in an organic fashion that didn’t let fame define him. His vision for music was about his passion and the pursuit of perfection. 

Who was Tim?

Avicii was a mild-mannered kid growing up for the love of music. In school, he grew to love the people around him, and he was described as polite to his peers. In the documentary, he talked about his love for instruments, including his love for the guitar, which he didn’t have the endurance to play. 

Avicii had three siblings that included one brother and one sister from the same parents. He had one-half brother, Anton Korberg, who is an actor who was featured in How to Train Your Dragon (2010).

Who was Avicii?

Ego was never seen in his personality because his music was about sending a message to his fans for peace and joy. Ash was able to take Avicii’s career to the next level with a promise he kept where blossomed all over the world.

“Levels” skyrocketed Avicii’s career, which defined the EDM music section all over the world and was loved by mainly young fans. It took many years to develop the turn, along with his manager and producer, in order to make the music what it is today. A song that featured the late Etta James with her line “Sometimes I get a good feeling."

His collaborations with David Guetta, Aloe Blacc, Lenny Kravitz, and Wyclef Jean were the most notable in songs for Avicii. Universal Music took a chance at the EDM DJ that allowed him to sprawl into the success that bought into his vision and the creativity in his music.

There were other dark aspects to Avicii, which led to problems with his mental health. The music touring led to a decline in his performance as his success pushed him over the limits. Avicii had a hard time recovering from his past concert debacle at Ultra, an annual spring music festival in Miami, where Aloe Blacc had performed that had upset fans.

His love for music was on the decline leading Avicii to a mental breakdown. After months of recovery, he was able to be his own self again after dealing with his depression and mental health issues.

Avicii’s happiness after recovery didn’t last long. He was on a flight to Oman on vacation where music producers were expecting to work with him on new projects. Unfortunately, he had passed away during his vacation. The cause of death was not mentioned in the documentary.

The legacy of Avicii lives on since his worldwide launch of “Levels," which sent him off to prominence. To many of his colleagues, Avicii had a vision where he pushed creativity to the limits.
