A Good Girl's Guide to Murder renewed for season 3, but it's not all good news

Netflix has officially renewed A Good Girl's Guide to Murder season 3 and set a release window, but there's some bittersweet news for fans.

Pip Fitz-Amobi still has another mystery yet to solve, but it's not the mystery about whether A Good Girl's Guide to Murder will return for another season. Despite the second season's decline in ratings with its release in May 2028, Netflix has officially announced the exciting news that season 3 is on the way. But there's some bittersweet news to share about the renewal.

But first, let's share the extra layer of good news! A Good Girl's Guide to Murder season 3 has already wrapped production. Filming on the third season has been completed, and Netflix has also confirmed that there won't be as long of a wait this time around. While two years separated the first and second season's releases, season 3 has been confirmed for release in 2027.

A Good Girl's Guide to Murder ending with season 3

Now for the bad news. Unfortunately, A Good Girl's Guide to Murder season 3 will be the last season of the show. Because the series is based on a trilogy of novels by Holly Jackson, it was expected that the series would only adapt the three books. But it still stings to say goodbye to Pip Fitz-Amobi after a shortened third and final season. This time around, there will be fewer than six episodes.

The first two seasons of A Good Girl's Guide to Murder both contain six episodes each, but for the final season, Netflix commissioned fewer episodes (or the creative team opted to tell the story in a much shorter amount of time). Season 3 will contain only four episodes, a decrease in two episodes compared to the show's previous seasons. Again, it's another bummer for fans.

On the bright side, the main cast has been confirmed to reprise their roles in A Good Girl's Guide to Murder in season 3. Emma Myers, Zain Iqbal, Henry Ashton, Asha Banks, Jude Morgan-Collie, Eden H Davies, and Yali Topol Margalith are all set to appear in the final season, though we can also expect some new characters and other familiar faces to pop up throughout the episodes.

Author, series co-creator, and writer Jackson shared a statement to Netflix's Tudum about the renewal of the final season: "I am ecstatic that we are able to bring A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder to its (bloody) conclusion. As Good As Dead is my favourite of the book series and it’s by far my favourite season of the show too. You’ll see Pip as you’ve never seen her before. It’s dark, breathless, horrible and… somehow still manages to be funny."

Myers echoed Jackson's sentiment in her own quote to Netflix's Tudum that the third book was her favorite in the series and was excited to bring the story to life. The actress also shared a tease and possibly a warning for fans, urging us all to "get ready for a crazy time." Given the events of the second season, there's no doubt we're in for a truly wild conclusion to the series.

The end of A Good Girl's Guide to Murder season 2 perfectly set up a third season now that Pip has become a target and she's looking into who's behind this new vendetta. If we had to guess, we likely won't have to wait a full year in between the second and third seasons, which means the final season could drop in the beginning of 2027. We'll share more as Netflix reveals new details!
