Another weekend has arrived, and for a lot of people, it's a long weekend. Whenever a long weekend rolls around, it's the perfect time to catch up on all those Netflix shows and movies you have been putting off, but it's also the perfect time to stay up to date with the latest new releases, too.

Obviously, the biggest Netflix new release of the weekend is Outer Banks season 4 part 1, which brings the Pogues back for another treasure hunting adventure. A sports documentary series, a true crime documentary, and an Italian mystery-thriller limited series are also on the menu.

Outer Banks season 4 part 1

It's been a long while without the Pogues, but they are finally back with a brand-new adventure. After wrapping up the series' original mystery with the discovery of El Dorado in season 3, Outer Banks season 4 finds the Pogues jumping right back into the gold game to track down Blackbeard's treasure. Obviously, it's not a treasure hunt with the Pogues unless the make some enemies, break some rules, and get into some dangerous situations. Watch all five episodes before the next five drop in November!

Need a new romantic comedy for a bit of levity? Look no further than Lonely Planet starring Laura Dern and Liam Hemsworth. Dern stars as a writer struggling with writer's block and Hemsworth plays the younger man who catches her eye during a retreat in Morocco. The movie offers some real escapist romance with two super-talented performers. What more could you ask for? Don't miss Lonely Planet when it begins streaming on Netflix on Oct. 11.

Sports fans, you are going to love this one! The new Netflix original documentary series Starting 5 centers on five of the biggest basketball players of the moment as they take on the 2023-2024 NBA season. You will get a behind-the-scenes look at their lives on and off the court with all the ups and downs the season brings. Jimmy Butler, Anthony Edwards, LeBron James, Domantas Sabonis, and Jayson Tatum are the five talented stars featured in the 10-episode series, which is now streaming!

The Menendez Brothers

Just a few weeks after Netflix released the controversial hit anthology series Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story from Ryan Muprhy, the streamer dropped The Menendez Brothers documentary on Oct. 8. The film features contributions from the brothers themselves and arrives on the heels of Lyle and Erik earned their first new court hearing in 30 years. After watching a dramatized and fictional account of their lives, get the facts in the chilling documentary.

Call all Grey's Anatomy fans! Have you missed Giacomo Gianniotti? Well, he's the leading star, in his native Italian, of the new Netflix limited drama series Deceitful Love. It's a sexy thriller about an older wealthy woman and hotel owner who begins an affair with a younger man, a situation that has her children concerned (mostly about their inheritance, probably). Surely, the series is steamy and twisty and full of surprises, the perfect recipe for weekend escapism.
