Rejoice, Netflix and NFL fans! We now know which games our favorite streamer will be streaming on Christmas Day in 2025. For the first time last year, Netflix broadcast two live NFL games, and it will do so again this year.
Those games include the Dallas Cowboys traveling to play the Washington Commanders at 1 p.m. ET and the Detroit Lions going to Minnesota to play the Vikings at 4:30 p.m. ET. They should be fun to watch as each team is a long-time rival of the one it is set to face, and the games are late in the season and can be important.
However, Netflix viewers might want more than a football game. In 2024, the streamer brought some fabulous halftime shows as well. This should be a fixture in future years. But who should play in 2025? These are some dream scenarios.
4 ideal halftime shows for Netflix's NFL Christmas Day games in 2025
Dream halftime show 1: Lions at Vikings - Lizzo
Let's start with a bit of a stretch. Lizzo is not originally from Minnesota, but she decided to move there when she dropped out of college. She is from Minnesota by choice, and that is important. She would also know all the elements to pull off a legendary halftime show.
She dances and sings, and she is controversial enough to attract a lot of viewers. That is what Netflix should be looking for.
Dream halftime show 1: Cowboys at Commanders - Fugazi
Let's get the hardcore legends back together for this. In truth, while they haven't produced a studio album in more than 20 years and haven't toured in seemingly forever, the band members still play music together privately and have remained friends. In other words, there would be no ego in getting them to play a concert.
Unless, of course, they don't want to. Still, how fun would this halftime show be? It is too loud for some, and too punk for others. Maybe these lads are DC through and through. Their music was also fantastic and deserves the kind of audience an NFL game would bring.
Dream halftime show 2: Lions at Vikings - Bob Dylan
Dylan would never do this, and his music does not lend itself to halftime shows, but the Minnesota native would still bring loads of new subscribers to Netflix to see the gig. Just as it did in 2024 when the streaming giant turned Beyoncé's Houston Texans show into its own event, the same could happen with Dylan.
Would he be as good as Prince would have been? Nope. Dylan is the showman that the Purple One was, but people know Dylan's songs. Rumor is that he is a Vikings fan, too (though I might have just made that up).
Dream halftime show 2: Cowboys at Commanders - Foo Fighters
I realize that the Foos are not exactly from Washington, DC, but Dave Grohl is from close enough. He grew up in northern Virginia and spent a lot of his formative music years in DC exploring the hardcore and punk scenes. There is little doubt that DC influenced him.
Plus, the Foo Fighters are obviously relevent enough where people are not going to have to figure out who they are and will jam along with most of their songs. Loud, vibrant, and energetic, Grohl and his mates would make for a fitting show.
Of course, as the Commanders currently play in Landover, Maryland, it would be a hoot to have a halftime show of Philip Glass. It certainly would not be bombastic, but having a little art in the middle of a football game would be great.
