Worst: Choose Love

Netflix has been experimenting with these interactive movies and specials for a few years now, most famously with projects like Black Mirror: Bandersnatch and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs the Reverend, but there have been many others, typically aimed at younger viewers, throughout the years.

The goal is for viewers to get the chance to influence the story they’re watching, and what better way to implement that type of choice then with a romantic comedy? Choose Love stars Vanessa Marano as a young woman named Cami who finds herself at a crossroads in life, one that comes with multiple paramours. Cami finds herself deciding between her loyal and dependable boyfriend Paul (Scott Michael Foster), a sexy musician named Rex (Avan Jogia) and her ex-flame Jordi Webber (Jack Menna).

As for who she’ll decide to be with, that decision is up to the viewer. Despite a fun premise, Choose Love is a painfully dull movie. The added choices can’t hide the fact this is a bare-bones movie that would have been more at home on the Hallmark channel. If you’re into that type of fluff, then you might have liked this, but overall Choose Love left a lot to be desired and doesn’t even try to push the envelope and do something more original with its unique premise.
