Bridgerton season 3 release date leaks again, and it’s not what we want

Dearest, readers. We come bearing some good-ish news, and some disappointing news.

UPDATE DEC. 12, 2023: Netflix has confirmed the Bridgerton season 3 release date today and it’s what was previously leaked. The new season will be split into two parts, with the first releasing on Thursday, May 16, 2024 and the second on Thursday, June 13, 2024.

The good news is that the Bridgerton season 3 release date has allegedly been leaked once again (more on that below). We say allegedly because the official Bridgerton X (formerly Twitter) account updated its banner with the release date, or dates we should say. But that banner has now been removed. The bad news is that the season is supposedly going to be split into two parts, and it’s coming much later than what we were hoping for.

What’s On Netflix managed to grab a screenshot before banner was deleted. According to the photo, Bridgerton season 3 part 1 will allegedly premiere on Thursday, May 16, 2024 and part 2 will follow a few weeks later on Thursday, June 13, 2024. Honestly, this was not the news we were hoping to hear.

This is the second time Netflix accidentally leaks the Bridgerton season 3 release date

No offense to Netflix, but the streamer needs to get it together. This is actually the second time a supposed Bridgerton season 3 release date has been leaked. Back in June 2023 during Netflix’s TUDUM event, the Netflix Portugal account on X shared that the season 3 release date would be Dec. 14, 2023. Whether that was true or not, us fans certainly got very excited! Though as we got closer to December, we soon realized the third season wasn’t coming this year. Still, us fans were hopeful for an early 2024 release date.

Once again, it’s likely our hopes are dashed if the May and June 2024 release dates are true. If these two premiere drops are correct, then that means Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton’s highly-anticipated love story won’t play out until summer next year. Where is Lady Whistledown to share her opinion on this!?

There’s just so much to look forward to in season 3! From Penelope finding it harder to keep her alter ego a secret, Colin finally starting to notice and fall for her, maybe some potential love triangles depending on the lovely gal’s suitors, to Eloise knowing her former friend’s secret. It’s going to be epic!

If the December 2023 release date was in Netflix’s initial plans, that means the company has seemingly changed them. Perhaps since the actual debut of the season hasn’t been announced by the streamer itself just yet, a potential earlier release date could be possible. I think that’s unlikely to be honest. Especially since this time, it’s the actual Bridgerton X account that leaked the release dates.

It is disheartening that Netflix has seemingly chosen to hold onto the new season longer than anticipated. While Netflix and the other streamers would like us to believe they had plenty of content during the Hollywood strikes that have recently been resolved, I really don’t think that’s the case. So that could be one of the reasons why Bridgerton season 3 won’t drop until the summer of 2024.

But it is disappointing for us fans. The last time there were new episodes of the period romance was March 2022. So if season 3 part 1 drops in May 2024, it’s going to be a little over two years since the second season. What is this, Stranger Things?

And to add salt to the wound, the third season might be split into two parts. While I think this works for some shows like The Crown season 6 since there were two clear and separate story arcs to cover, Netflix shouldn’t split Bridgerton season 3. There aren’t that many episodes to begin with.

No matter what happens and as we wait for official word to come out about the new season’s premiere, obviously us fans are going to be tuning in! All we can do is wait, but this definitely doesn’t diminish our excitement for Bridgerton season 3. I truly think it’s going to be a true favorite!
