There’s a whole new year of new releases upon us on Netflix, and that new year starts with a definite bang in January 2024. After an awesome year in 2023 that included the likes of Ginny & Georgia, Outer Banks, The Night Agent, The Mother, Extraction 2, Leo, and so many more hit shows and movies, there’s plenty more new titles to look forward to in 2024.

We’ll still have to wait a while longer for strike-delayed shows such as Stranger Things, Wednesday, Emily in Paris, and Cobra Kai to return, but the new year promises the return of Bridgerton, The Umbrella Academy, and Vikings: Valhalla. While those shows haven’t received release dates just yet, January looks to be a great month for our watch lists.

Sofía Vergara headlines the crime drama limited series Griselda, while Academy Award winner Michelle Yeoh stars in the action series The Brothers Sun. On the original movie side of things, Schitt’s Creek mastermind Dan Levy makes his directorial debut with Good Grief, and Kevin Hart stars in his next Netflix movie Lift. See what else January 2024 has in store below!

From Glee and American Horror Story co-creator Brad Falchuk and Byron Wu, The Brothers Sun centers on Bruce Sun (Sam Song Li), who lives in Los Angeles and receives a visit from his older brother Charles (Justin Chien). He’s surprised to learn of his early life in Taipei, Taiwan and his family history, including the sacrifices his mother (Michelle Yeoh) made for him. Don’t miss a minute of the thrilling action series when it drops on Jan. 4.

Queer Eye season 8

Release Date: Jan. 24

Queer Eye returns with its landmark eighth season on Jan. 24, and it’s taking place in New Orleans for another round of lifestyle makeovers. Thankfully, Netflix has already renewed the Emmy-winning reality series for a ninth season, but the Fab Five will be down a member as Bobby Berk announced his departure from the series after season 8. Make sure to tune into Berk’s final season when it begins streaming in January.

Griselda

Release Date: Jan. 25

Emmy-nominated Modern Family star Sofía Vergara returns to television in the Netflix original limited series Griselda. Vergara stars in the titular role of the Colombian drug lord Griselda Blanco. The series takes place in the 1970s and 1980s in Miami and covers the rise and fall of “The Godmother.” Griselda features six thrilling episodes and could very well be the first major miniseries hit of the year for Netflix when it premieres on Jan. 25.
